Though elves do not like to advertise the fact, they are cross-compatible with several of the beastfolk races. The cantol are the products of such unions that have bred true within the elven race. While considered something of an embarrassment by other elves, they are nevertheless more elven than beastfolk, and have been accepted as such by the elven race as a whole.

Personality
Their mixed blood a source of constant embarrassment to the cantol, they tend to be a very humble people, at least for elves. Taking the elven traditions of hospitality to heart, without the aristocratic demeanor of other elven subraces to mar relations, cantol are a friendly people, and happy to make friends rather than isolate themselves. They tend to be gentle by nature, and many of them are pacifists. This does not make them foolish by any means, though, and they can be incredibly agile of mind as well as body.

Physical Description
Like elves, cantol tend to have smooth skin and lithe, agile bodies, though they tend to be slightly shorter than humans. They have hair color like those of other elven subraces, which varies depending on their elven parental race. Unlike elves, cantol tend to have muzzles, which can vary from barely noticeable to quite long, with black noses and their pointed ears are furry and often have tufts at the tips. Their eyes are often brown or yellow, like those of many beastfolk, though green or blue eyes are not uncommon. Some of them walk on digitigrade paws or unguligrade hooves rather than plantigrade feet, though this is uncommon. They do not generally have tails or fur on the rest of their bodies.

About Cantol
Communities of cantol tend towards tribal lifestyles that are even more nomadic and close to nature than those of wood elves, though a step above the lives of wildrunner elves. They tend to live in small communities within lands shared by elves and beastfolk, keeping up ties with both communities of their shared parentage. This often makes cantol into natural diplomats, as they are so used to traversing the spaces between two very different cultures. Since they are used to moving around, and also have only a rather loose culture of their own, cantol frequently adventure so as to gain a better understanding of themselves, as well as the world in which they live. They frequently become healers, druids, scouts, rangers, and bards, as these classes adequately represent their affinity for the gentler arts of healing, ties to nature, and skill at dealing with others.
