Character History:
Cricket was born to a washerwoman and a carpenter. Her father died when she was just 10, framed for a crime and unjustly hung. This contributed to her cynicism and lack of faith in justice. When she was 16, her mother remarried - this time to an abusive drunk who made both their lives miserable. Cricket endured, the abuse merely fuelling her determination to survive against the odds. She wandered the back alleys and slums, stealing when she could, from whoever she could, to stave off hunger and supplement her mother's meager income. Two years later, her mother died. It was reported as an accident where her mother slipped and cracked her head against the edge of the table, but Cricket knew better - her foster father had finally gone too far in one of his drunken rages. Still, she bade her time. The tears she shed on her mother's deathbed would be the last she ever allowed herself.

She continued to hone her craft, thieving and sneaking, surviving the mean streets and the brutality of her foster father, enduring hunger, cold, frequent beatings and worse. This made her tough, but physically weak. She was nimble and quick though, and not averse to grovelling or charming her way out of a tight spot. In the world she inhabited, excessive pride usually led to a swift end. She was wild and unpredictable as an alley cat in nature, though her motives remain simple - to get out of poverty.
