Removing the paragon quest requirement seems nice, as there is no reason not yet accepting a reward should hold a person back.

And I was under the impression that 10 rep worth of site work already counted as the equivalent of a story. Lowering it to 5 isn't too big of a deal normally but during these double rep for site work days it will power people threw the ranks. Anyway it sounds like a good change to have that option noted down for everyone to see.

I can see letting players do rep work (or perhaps X rep worth of additional stories?) in replacement of the Master quest as a good idea, it nets them a special background and opens up player housing options. These shouldn't really be denied anyone just because they cant/wont run 1 quest.

But replacing the quest requirement for epic tier seems like a bit of a bad idea. Epic tir seems like it means beyond normal. And it's rewards only net you a 5rep discount on special character backgrounds and increases the weight of their suggestions (not sure how that's measured.) It seems more like a special discount to urge players to become quest runners (or at least see if they like running quests). Perhaps just in case someone has problems that may prevent them from running a normal quest in a quest room you could open it up so that if a player wants to run a play-by-post quest as a replacement they could do that for one or both quests?

Dungeon masters, storytellers, and ops are all allowed to run paragon quests, and cannot refuse people from asking them for one. The people holding those positions do not have to run the quests when asked, but that`s currently 10 different people who can be asked.

Because a person desiring a paragon needs to have their reward cleared with a mech op before hand, they need to make it known that they desire a paragon quest before anyone can approach them, although they can approach any of the elligable candidates to run the quest themselves too. There is no reason it needs to be an either or only, but there is nothing wrong with them asking for a paragon once they become elligable for one.

There are people to run quests -but have these people specifically said they are open to doing Paragon quests? I know in the past some people have specifically said they were. (I ask simply because I dont know).

Should someone approach the person desiring a Paragon?
When they want/need one should they ask (who?) for one?
Should this be the job of a specific person? (unless the one desiring one, asks for someone specific)

Should it fall among the duties of the Story Lead/Story OP (Which we had in fact for a time done away with, GKJ had initially proposed removing it, and now only recently brought back)- in the event a player cannot find one of their peers?

As of present there is no shortage of people to run paragon quests, and the only reason it is a barrier is for players who want a SPECIFIC person to run their paragon quest and will accept no other.

Looking at proposed changes, it seems fairly sensible in the current draft I read. I think it is true that adding things to the page, or other types of works can be substituted for running quests. They are important, but not the only thing that makes the Therafim world go round. After all, I am "The Mad Scribe" who chronicled all in 95 pages ( 48,000 words) of journaling, 53 pages of short stories (with another 71 purely OOC about characters -that's mainly questionnaires}; in addition to 54 pages as various articles just to setting in general. (And 56 pages in Quest summaries.) I would know.

Albeit- I can see the point of a Paragon quest, with the caveat that really ORIGINALLY players who reached that point were supposed to be guaranteed one. The ideal was that everyone would get at least 1 quest just for them. This was not meatn to really be a requirement, so much as a special reward in itself. However, as a requirement, it now might become a barrier, depending on who is actually available or able to run such a quest for that person. If no one is able, free, or willing to do so -any of those then this blocks a person from otherwise moving forward.

"In addition, I am also proposing to remove the requirement to Participate in a Paragon quest. It is not needed and I have no idea why it is even there in the first place and just does not seem to fit."

I guess we encourage promoting players who don't care about their characters enough to paragon them, since there is nothing more significant to a character than having a little something just for them that sets them apart from everyone else in therafim. The requirement fits so much better than running quests does, and is quite similar to writing player fiction.

Also, why have any kind of set amount of rep required for site work? Isn't each individual instance of rep reward its own thing and substitutable? Fiction doesn't always get you 5 or more rep either, are you going to start counting the rep for that too?

Although none of these changes are really that big of a deal, I don't think they were necessary at all and things were already adequately explained with a little inferance but clarification is always nice.
