Few places in Avalon, and perhaps even the whole of Therafim are so packed with people as the Goblin Market, for it is a sea of people that crams its way down the hundreds of tiny corridors and alleyways to the street peddlers and hidden shops that can be found in any location whatsoever. Due to the mass of people the area is rather muggy, steam rises from the floors here and there and to anyone unfamiliar with it, the place is the most confusing of labyrinths.

Compared to the rest of the Underhive, the markets are a relatively neutral area for the top dogs in the underworld. Each of them has a small area within the market to call their own, a base of operations from which they maintain a thugly order. Obvious outsiders travelling through the market are likely to be charged a toll each time they pass a member of a gang, treated as free money and looked down upon unless they're obviously able to defend themselves… and even then it would be wise to have eyes in the back of your head and a plan to deal with overwhelming numbers if you opt to cause offence.

Many pieces of exotic merchandise can be found here, though its reliability is often questionable and you could as easily end up with a painted rock as a ruby if you don't have your smarts about you. Other items can be purchased in undercity too, from a night with a woman to information if you know where to look and who to talk to, but asking too many or the wrong kinds of questions can easily land you in a place you don't want to be.

There are said to be all manner of things in the Underhive, but you can only know truth from rumour by seeing them for yourself and hoping you return to tell the tale. People take the chances they have in this grim and perilous environment, so if that means scamming freshmeat or stabbing someone in the back that's exactly what they will do to survive.
