Feats:
Class Abilities:
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Wizards are proficient with the club, dagger, heavy crossbow, light crossbow, and quarterstaff, but not with any type of armor or shield. Armor of any type interferes with a wizard’s movements, which can cause her spells with somatic components to fail.
Spells: A wizard casts arcane spells which are drawn from the sorcerer/wizard spell list. A wizard must choose and prepare her spells ahead of time (see below).
To learn, prepare, or cast a spell, the wizard must have an Intelligence score equal to at least 10 + the spell level. The Difficulty Class for a saving throw against a wizard’s spell is 10 + the spell level + the wizard’s Intelligence modifier.
Like other spellcasters, a wizard can cast only a certain number of spells of each spell level per day. Her base daily spell allotment is given on the above table. In addition, she receives bonus spells per day if she has a high Intelligence score, see: Bonus Spells.
Like all other spellcasters in Therafim, the Wizard casts spells spontaneously however a full nights sleep is still required to recover spent spell slots.
Bonus Languages: A wizard may substitute Draconic for one of the bonus languages available to the character because of her race.
Familiar: A wizard can obtain a familiar (see below). Doing so takes 24 hours and uses up magical materials that cost 100 gp. A familiar is a magical beast that resembles a small animal and is unusually tough and intelligent. The creature serves as a companion and servant.
The wizard chooses the kind of familiar he gets. As the wizard advances in level, his familiar also increases in power.
If the familiar dies or is dismissed by the wizard, the wizard must attempt a DC 15 Fortitude saving throw. Failure means he loses 200 experience points per wizard level; success reduces the loss to one-half that amount. However, a wizard’s experience point total can never go below 0 as the result of a familiar’s demise or dismissal. A slain or dismissed familiar cannot be replaced for a year and day. A slain familiar can be raised from the dead just as a character can be, and it does not lose a level or a Constitution point when this happy event occurs.
A character with more than one class that grants a familiar may have only one familiar at a time.
Scribe Scroll: At 1st level, a wizard gains Scribe Scroll as a bonus feat.
Racial Abilities:
• Human characters get a +2 bonus to one ability score of their choice at creation to represent their varied nature.
• Medium: Humans are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
• Normal Speed: Humans have a base speed of 30 feet.
• Bonus Feat: Humans select one extra feat at 1st level.
• Skilled: Humans gain an additional four skill points at first level, and an additional one at every level after.
• Languages: Humans begin play speaking Common. Humans with high Intelligence scores can choose any languages they want (except secret languages, such as Druidic).

Character History:
Joshua was born on the 18th of Falahis, and his parents were medium income public servants who served the city for their entire lives, before dying at the age of 79, when Joshua was 51 years old.
During his childhood, his parents, who had been well educated, educated him, and at the age of 14 hired a tutor to take care of his education, since his father had gotten a promotion which gave him less time to teach his son.
At the age of 28 he got employed at the library and slowly rose the ranks until he became head librarian. Even though he had that position, he still couldn't change the rules as he wanted, and his proposals were constantly refused.
Soon after his 50th birthday, a man… Almost a child came up to him to ask for help in finding information on innate magical talent. The person gave his name as Zhelen. Joshua quickly grew a liking for Zhelen and tried, and still does, to teach Zhelen everything he knows; from history to magic, to legends. He was surprised at how quickly Zhelen was learning, and amazed when he found out that Zhelen showed innate magical talent.
After a few years Zhelen left and started adventuring, though he would still visit him regularly. These visits, and the tales Zhelen toldhim, along with the constant refusals the governing body would issue to his decisions, encouraged him to demote himself one step, so that he still had a significant influence in the library, but no longer had to deal with… Politics.
After hearing about a certain old book which recounts the War of Division, he has tirelessly been searching for it, meeting several adventurers in the process.
A: Appearance
1) Describe yourself as someone meeting you for the first time would see you. (Race?, Gender?, Age?, Size? Coloration? Attractiveness?, Dress? Do you try to emphasize or hide any of these features?)
He is a 53 year old male human, with white hair and bright blue eyes. He is in fair shape… for a 53 year old and dresses quite conservatively, though when on quests he often will wear a variety of robes. He is perfectly at peace with his body, and tries neither to emphasize, nor hide anything.
2) What other details would someone notice on a closer look? (Distinguishing marks, birthmarks, scars, etc?)
He has slightly strained eyes from hours of staring at books.
3) Do you have a distinctive way of speaking or any other mannerisms or memorable behavior?
During his free time he can often be found reading, or studying in one of the private rooms on the top floor of the library. He always speaks carefully, choosing his words so that they are those that illustrate his intentions the clearest, using a quite extensive vocabulary.
B: Birth and Family
1) Where and when were you born? (Also good to include: Do you know your exact birthdate? Did anything unusual (storms, accidents, deaths, etc?) happen about the same time, with which some people might still associate your birthdate?)
He was born on the 18th of Falanis, in Avalon city.
2) Who are your parents? (Names, Occupations, Social class, Were they married?, Are they still alive? are all good things to include)
His parents are Desel and Irul Prellun. They were upper middle class civil servants who were married. They died 2 years ago when Joshua was 51. His father, Desel, was 79 and his mother, Irul, was 78.
3) Do you have any siblings? (If so, it would be good to describe them as you did your parents above.)
He has none
4) Do you know any members of your extended family? (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins? Also would be good to describe them as above)
The only ones he does, which he didn’t know well, are all dead from natural causes. Though, he never knew his family well.
5) How did you get along with your family?
He got along well with his family, at least those that he knew. He was never best friends with his extended family, but never made enemies with them.
C: Education and Work
1) Did you serve an apprenticeship in order to learn your current profession/class? For how long?
N/A
2) If you were not an apprentice, how did you learn your trade/skills/ect? Formal schooling? Informal Teachers? Self-Taught?
He had a semi-formal education: His parents, who were educated, first took care of his education. Later, they hired a tutor, who continued it. Other than that, he has been largely educated thanks to the immense collection of books that the library has.
3) Who was your master or teacher? (Race? Gender? Appearance? Personality?) Is he/she still alive? How were you treated? Are/Were you on good terms with your master?
Parents, Got along well.
They were fairly lenient with him, but mostly because he was such a hard worker, always thirsting for knowledge, that they had no needs to punish him, or even push him to work at all.
4) Did your teacher have any other apprentices or students? Who were they? Did you get along?
Nope!
5) Due to the rarity of literacy in this setting, how important are books, writings, letters, ect. to your character? Regardless as to whether or not he/she can read?
He values all types of writings, and other records extremely valuable. His dream, and the goal that he had been continuingly campaigning for \while head of the library was for it to be open to all, so that everyone could learn how to read, and learn to appreciate the knowledge.
6) Do you have a job other than "adventurer"? Who do you work for? How much of your time does this require?
His other job is libarian!
He works for the library for around half of his free time, though since he makes his own schedule and receives very little pay, he can work for however many hours he wants, and can absent himself for long periods of time.
D: Friends
1) Who were your friends as a child? As an adolescent? As an adult?
As a child and an adolescent he was extremely reserved, and as such had few friends. He was however very close to a certain other kid of the same age as him called Colin. However, Colin moved away from Avalon when they were 17 years old when his parents, who were sailors, were employed on a long cruise which would end elsewhere.
2) How many of these people are still alive? How many are you still friends with?
Colin died during the cruise as they were attacked by pirated and Colin bravely, and idiotly tried to stop them.
3) Who is/was your best friend? What is the most memorable thing that the two of you ever did together?
4) What do you look for in a friend?
5) Have you ever been in love? Was it reciprocated? Do you have (or have you had) a boy-/girlfriend, a lover, or a spouse? More than one? Are you looking for one? What do you look for in a romantic partner?
E: Attitudes and Beliefs
1) What are your beliefs about religion and the afterlife? Do you follow any particular god or gods? What appeals to you most about this religion? Least?
2) Where do spirits of nature, the elements and the dead fit into these beliefs?
3) What gods, religions, or priesthoods will you have nothing to do with?
4) What is your moral code? Under what conditions will you kill? Steal? Lie? Do you have a personal code of behavior about violence? Magic? Sex? Dealing with Evil Beings?
5) How committed are you to seeing through something (a task, quest, bargain, etc) that you have started?
6) How important are the following to you?: Power, Wealth, Fame, Honor, Family, Friends, Love, Knowledge, Religion, Your job? To what lengths would you go to acquire or preserve these things?
7) How often do you remember your dreams? How much attention do you pay to them? Do they inspire you? Guide you? Inspire You? Warn you? Frighten You?
8) What is your attitude towards magic? People who use it? Fearsome monsters? The unknown in general?
F: Edges and Flaws
1) What are you especially good at? What sets you apart from the rest of the world? A skill? An unusual knack? A certain flair of style or wit?
2) What flaws do you have? Bad habits? Obsessions? Terrible (or embarrassing) secrets?
3) Do you have any enemies? How much trouble do those conflicts cause you?
G: Likes and Dislikes
1) What do you love? (People? Places? Creatures? Kinds of Food? Activities? Subjects?)
2) What do you hate? How do you typically react to these hated things?
3) What do you fear? What is your worst nightmare?
H: Miscellaneous
1) Describe your first encounter with a nonhuman monster. (Not counting player races, animals, etc that you grew up with, but feel free to mention them too)
2) If you are a spellcaster, describe your first experience with using magic. What were the circumstances? Were you expecting it?
3) If you have an animal companion or familiar, describe how you acquired it. Describe this ally's personality, and its attitude towards you. (Loyal unto death, mischievous, lazy, etc)
4) If you have any unusual possessions, describe how you acquired them. Is their value practical, monetary, sentimental or some combination of these?
