A: Appearance
1) Describe yourself as someone meeting you for the first time would see you. (Race?, Gender?, Age?, Size? Coloration? Attractiveness?, Dress? Do you try to emphasize or hide any of these features?)
Petite and fox like Lily has the color pattern of the average fox or red wolf, an orange red body with a white spot on her chin and a white tail. Her hands and feet are black to the elbow and knee. Her legs are longer and her body a bit heavier than the average fox, her bone structure shows far more wolfish traits than fox-like ones, though her size and ears have her mostly called fox-kin. Lily's average state of dress is a long white top, tied between her breasts with elbow length sleeves tied tight to her upper arms with ribbons to keep them out of her way. The green lower edge of the outfit is reminiscent of the calla lily and deliberately picked by someone to match her name. A matching green bikini bottom covers enough for the human laws on nudity. The ribbons that decorate her upper arms are black, each one possessing a stone charm, one is a small jade stone dragon, the other a white and black tiger. Her legs are similarly marked with ribbons, these a dull green, from knee to ankle, tied in bows at the top of her calves. At her neck a simple leather cord holds a curved fang and at her wrists wide metal bracers rest, bright silver against the charcoal black fur.
2) What other details would someone notice on a closer look? (Distinguishing marks, birthmarks, scars, ect?)
Despite her rather civilized outfit Lily, upon closer inspection, looks rather feral, her fur is usually in need of a brushing, her hair is short and uneven where it is routinely shortened with the use of a hunting knife to keep it short enough not to bother her. While she has no obvious scars that show through the fur any observation of her at all will not a sort of thousand yard stare when people use long words or try to fit complex ideas into the mind of the feral creature.
3) Do you have a distinctive way of speaking or any other mannerisms or memorable behavior?
Lily is less than intelligent and as such speaks in broken common, her memory for names is also abysmal unless your a flower so people are generally dubbed with a descriptive nick name.
B: Birth and Family
1) Where and when were you born? (Also good to include: Do you know your exact birth date? Did anything unusual (storms, accidents, deaths, etc?) happen about the same time, with which some people might still associate your birth date?)
Where Lily was actually born and to whom are mysteries to the girl, ones she doesn't dwell on. her earliest memory is being walked into the woods and abandoned at the tender age of 5 years of age. She doesn't even know what season into which she was born, much less the actual date. Her adoptive father, Norton, considered her birth-date to be the first time he saw her, for lack of any other input so Lily claims her birth-date somewhere in the ' flowerscomingouttime' or mid spring.
2) Who are your parents? (Names, Occupations, Social class, Were they married?, Are they still alive? are all good things to include)
Unknown, state of life and viability are also unknown to Lily. Her mother was tricked by a fox-kin, the resultant unwanted child was dealt with by abandonment, even if Lily walked straight into her mother she wouldn't know her. Lily's adoptive father figure, Norton, passed away about 18 months before Lily showed up in Avalon. An older monk, he'd retired to a place of peaceful meditation, tending a flower garden which lily occasionally raided for snacking. Her fondness for Lily flowers earned her her name.
Her mother, a red wolf named Chandra, lives in a village about a weeks journey through the forested lands from Avalon and rarely leaves it. She has forgotten the girl she abandoned in the woods, thinking Lily long dead. Lily has no 'real' name, being that Chandra never named the cub, never intending to keep her. Chandra was lonely 16 or so when she had Lily making her in her early 30s today.
Lily's father was an unwanted suitor that used trickery (and alcohol) to end up in Chandra's bed, she didn't know his name and doesn't know where he got off to afterword.
3) Do you have any siblings? (If so, it would be good to describe them as you did your parents above.)
Chandra has no other children.
4) Do you know any members of your extended family? (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins? Also would be good to describe them as above)
Chandra has a brother, though they aren't in contact.
5) How did you get along with your family?
Lily adored Norton, though it took her a few months to warm up to him. Through patience and persistence the monk managed to at least teach Lily the basics of human discourse, language and law. His death devastated Lily who will only speak of it to those that have earned a deep trust.
Lily does not know or even really think of her mother in her waking hours and has no desire to.
C: Education and Work
1) Did you serve an apprenticeship in order to learn your current profession/class? For how long?
Trained by her adoptive father sort who merely honed her natural skills while instilling a set of rules and order on the young and in many ways still unformed mind of the fox.
2) If you were not an apprentice, how did you learn your trade/skills/etc? Formal schooling? Informal Teachers? Self-Taught?
After the death of Norton, Lily has trained here and there with other people but mostly maintains self teaching.
3) Who was your master or teacher? (Race? Gender? Appearance? Personality?) Is he/she still alive? How were you treated? Are/Were you on good terms with your master?
Norton was an older monk, a human of some great skill. His years of training and long life had left him with a vast wisdom and a desire for peace for his final years. Never one to back down from a challenge Lily's appearance in his life was taken as fate, one last good act before his time elapsed. He and Lily were on wonderful terms, ruined only by the old man passing to sleep one night and never waking.
4) Did your teacher have any other apprentices or students? Who were they? Did you get along?
No other students.
5) Due to the rarity of literacy in this setting, how important are books, writings, letters, etc. to your character? Regardless as to whether or not he/she can read?
Books largely confuse Lily, who can't read. They are not edible so have no value to her.
6) Do you have a job other than "adventurer"? Who do you work for? How much of your time does this require?
When not out adventuring Lily lives the life of a wild creature, living in the forest removed from the scene of Avalon where she gets up to whatever she wants.
D: Friends
1) Who were your friends as a child? As an adolescent? As an adult?
Living alone for most of her life her one and only friend growing up was her teacher. Since arriving in Avalon she's made many friends, Including Karyn, Jenner and the local wolven pack, Galen the monk.
2) How many of these people are still alive? How many are you still friends with?
As far as she knows all of them but Norton, though any of the others could have fallen down a well since she last saw them.
3) Who is/was your best friend? What is the most memorable thing that the two of you ever did together?
She barely remembers people's names, remembering what they did weeks before is even harder, whoever is nearest is her best friend.
4) What do you look for in a friend?
Food, generally. Lily is rather flighty, she's also quick to form shallow attachments to people, though true trust is hard to earn from her.
5) Have you ever been in love? Was it reciprocated? Do you have (or have you had) a boy-/girlfriend, a lover, or a spouse? More than one? Are you looking for one? What do you look for in a romantic partner?
No.. Lily has had lovers but never known love. She's not actively looking for one and would probably be confused by the concept of romance, existing on a purely physical level.
E: Attitudes and Beliefs
1) What are your beliefs about religion and the afterlife? Do you follow any particular god or gods? What appeals to you most about this religion? Least?
Lily's grasp on religion and afterlife is vague at best, as far as she knows when the body dies the person is gone forever. She follows no god, and doesn't understand religion.
2) Where do spirits of nature, the elements and the dead fit into these beliefs?
The spirits of nature and elemental forces are a bit better understood by Lily, who spent more time with the wild than with the civilized, such spirits are treated with respect bordering on reverence and generally left alone. They aren't edible so there's no reason to bother them.
3) What gods, religions, or priesthoods will you have nothing to do with?
Ones that act in an overtly chaotic fashion.
4) What is your moral code? Under what conditions will you kill? Steal? Lie? Do you have a personal code of behavior about violence? Magic? Sex? Dealing with Evil Beings?
Lily is a law abiding citizen, she follows the rules set out for her. She has no moral objection to ending the life of another creature, even a sentient one, though generally doesn't unless they start it, as murder is against the rules. Lily wouldn't steal, mostly because there nothing of interest to her and again, its against the rules. She doesn't lie, it takes to much mental energy. Magic confuses her and is treated as suspect, especially when cast by those of a morally objectionable background.. though folk she trusts get around this by Lily believing nothing they would do would harm her. Violence is violence, it has its place. Sex is Sex, enjoyable and amusing but there's no emotional attachment to it for her, and no moral thought about it. Evil is evil, it, like everything else, depends on how the evil acts.
5) How committed are you to seeing through something (a task, quest, bargain, ect) that you have started?
Lily has the attention span of a ferret after a triple espresso in a glitter factory. Her memory is such that unless prompted she will often forget or become distracted.
6) How important are the following to you?: Power, Wealth, Fame, Honor, Family, Friends, Love, Knowledge, Religion, Your job? To what lengths would you go to acquire or preserve these things?
Power: Rather important; Power means not being eaten by bigger predators.
Wealth: Not at all important
Fame: not at all
Honor: a little important, but only a little
Family: not important
Friends: Very important, aside from the sense of connection Lily's lack of problem solving beyond 'find it and eat it' makes trusted friends important as they would be the ones whom she would ask for direction if confused.
Love: not important, love is a thinking emotion.
Knowledge: not important
Religion: not important
Job: moderately important
Food and survival: Paramount.
7) How often do you remember your dreams? How much attention do you pay to them? Do they inspire you? Guide you? Inspire You? Warn you? Frighten You?
Lily rarely dreams and never remembers them. Those who have seen her sleeping might be struck by the fact that when she dreams she talks to them, mostly things like " Mommy don't go" and " Norton Wake up."
8) What is your attitude toward magic? People who use it? Fearsome monsters? The unknown in general?
Magic is magic but is treated as suspect from anyone not already a trusted source, people who use magic are just fine, the unknown is nothing to be afraid of.. The dark and sewer dragons (actually undead) however terrify Lily, who doesn't like to go underground.
F: Edges and Flaws
1) What are you especially good at? What sets you apart from the rest of the world? A skill? An unusual knack? A certain flair of style or wit?
A strikingly good hunter, though little else sets her apart skill wise other than her ability to shift forms into a wolf, which seems to shock just about everyone.
2) What flaws do you have? Bad habits? Obsessions? Terrible (or embarrassing) secrets?
A lack of intellect to be subtle she's often verbally harsh with people out of sheer lack of knowledge, lacking a clear sense of personal space she can often invade other people's without really meaning to. While she's got secrets none of them embarrass her and are particularly terrible.
3) Do you have any enemies? How much trouble do those conflicts cause you?
People who would trespass on the land she grew up in MIGHT be considered enemies but other than that Lily generally assumes all people are neutral.
G: Likes and Dislikes
1) What do you love? (People? Places? Creatures? Kinds of Food? Activities? Subjects?)
Food, warm spots in the sun to sleep, chasing bunny-rabbits, eating bunny-rabbits, Food, sex, warm spots by a fire to sleep, friends, and oh yea, Food.
2) What do you hate? How do you typically react to these hated things?
she hates what she fears so look below.
3) What do you fear? What is your worst nightmare?
Undead, Though she thinks of them as sewer dragons due to a misunderstood set of comments during an adventure into the underground where Lily was nearly greatly harmed by Wights, the unnatural undead frighten lily and unless a friend is present to keep her in place she's likely to flee.
Underground, Makes her overly cautious, jumpy almost, she won't willingly go alone into most underground spaces.
Thus a combination of the two ranks rather high on Lily's list of fears, throw in a lack of food and Lily's pretty much terrified.
H: Miscellaneous
1) Describe your first encounter with a nonhuman monster. (Not counting player races, animals, ect that you grew up with, but feel free to mention them too)
The woods in which Lily grew up were full of goblins and lesser 'fodder' type monsters, though mostly she avoided the areas with them by scent, they smell bad, and only had contact with them at a distance. She had occasionally to scare one off of her dinner or her nest and that would probably have been her first encounter with monstrous folk.
Please describe your characters general background, this may be any length you wish, but at least one paragraph. You may use any or all of the information above, or new information not covered. (Encouraged)
The unwanted cub of a union between a maned wolf woman and a fox kin Lily was never quite sure why she never had a family, though she does retain vague memories of her mother from very young childhood she was rather quickly abandoned to thrive of fail on her own. That was that for nearly ten years, the young wolf kin survived quite admirably without social interaction of any kind until she happened upon a monk of the human persuasion, She was found in his small flower garden, eating the flowers which lead to her name, Lily. The monk spent months winning the young skittish girl's trust, teaching her common and the basics of social skills. The venerable old monk died eventually, simply reaching the end of his allotted time, leaving Lily alone but only after having trained her natural fighting style and instilled in her some law and rule and the desire to at least find a person to be with. Like most travelers her path has led her to Avalon.. as good a place as any other to look for a new friend.
(Lily spent her first 11 and a half years alone, just over a year with her master, then a further 3 and a half alone before ending up in Avalon.)
