A: Appearance
1) Describe yourself as someone meeting you for the first time would see you. (Race?, Gender?, Age?, Size? Coloration? Attractiveness?, Dress? Do you try to emphasize or hide any of these features?)
1A: Malcolm is, -usually-, a human in appearance. A little on the tall side, but slender, with a natural grace. Usually a healthy tan skin tone, and quite handsome. Most would place him in his late twenties, or early thirties, and he usually dresses in a fashion accepted as the norm for a professional artisan. Since he is unarmed, most seeing him at leisure would likely not think him to be an adventurer.
2) What other details would someone notice on a closer look? (Distinguishing marks, birthmarks, scars, etc?)
2A: None, to be honest, except that his eyes, when he does -not- focus on changing them, are a deep black, far deeper than a normal human. But it's not the sort of thing that pops out at you unless you're looking for it.
3) Do you have a distinctive way of speaking or any other mannerisms or memorable behavior?
3A: Not a particular way of speaking, no, no real accent. Very polite, though, and genial.
B: Birth and Family
1) Where and when were you born? (Also good to include: Do you know your exact birthdate? Did anything unusual (storms, accidents, deaths, etc?) happen about the same time, with which some people might still associate your birthdate?)
1A: Malcolm does not know his exact birthdate, or where it was. His mother, (at least, people assume it was his mother) dropped him off at a very early age, but there was no time or way to get more information out of the woman before she left. However, auspices were good that year, they had an excellent crop, and had more than enough food to share. Not entirely sure they associate it with Malcolm's arrival though..
2) Who are your parents? (Names, Occupations, Social class, Were they married?, Are they still alive? are all good things to include)
2A: Isabel and Howard Wrynn. Howard is a merchant, Isabel assists him with the bookkeeping, when not taking care of the house. Merchant-class, obviously, and definitely married. Still alive and quite happy, Malcolm writes them on occasion to let them know he's all right.
3) Do you have any siblings? (If so, it would be good to describe them as you did your parents above.)
3A: One adopted sibling, an elder brother, who is slated to inherit the family business, named Logan.
4) Do you know any members of your extended family? (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins? Also would be good to describe them as above)
4A: Malcolm does not, no. None lived in the town. His parents always spoke as if they were only children, no siblings, and spoke but rarely of their parents, so he presumes them to be dead.
5) How did you get along with your family?
5A: Malcolm got along splendidly with them, actually. He was rambunctious, but quite kind and grateful to them for taking him in, once he was old enough to understand that they did not -have- to do so. They in turn were happy that he thought of them as his parents.
C: Education and Work
1) Did you serve an apprenticeship in order to learn your current profession/class? For how long?
1A: For his craft, (Painting), he learned very little from others, an elderly man in the town who saw him scribbling with chalk and convinced him to save up for something better. It took months to save on his allowance to buy a full artist's palette, canvas, and all the supplies, but he took to it like he was born to it. In regards to Shadowcrafting, he was apprenticed to a strange woman who frequented an inn (NOT the Arcadia..) within Avalon, who had engaged him more than once in debates about matters arcane and extraplanar. He'd been fascinated by the topic, and she tempted him with more knowledge. He learned, and became her apprentice. She did little more than start him on the path, however, claiming that the rest was his to discover for his own. He has not seen her since.
2) If you were not an apprentice, how did you learn your trade/skills/ect? Formal schooling? Informal Teachers? Self-Taught?
2A: N/A
3) Who was your master or teacher? (Race? Gender? Appearance? Personality?) Is he/she still alive? How were you treated? Are/Were you on good terms with your master?
3A: Already covered, see above.
4) Did your teacher have any other apprentices or students? Who were they? Did you get along?
4A: Not that Malcolm was aware of. Possible, in both cases.
5) Due to the rarity of literacy in this setting, how important are books, writings, letters, ect. to your character? Regardless as to whether or not he/she can read?
5A: Very. He reads voraciously, and obviously enjoys it.
6) Do you have a job other than "adventurer"? Who do you work for? How much of your time does this require?
6A: Malcolm is self-employed as a painter, and sells his creations every so often to likely buyers within the markets of Avalon. He has no real fame at the task, but there are a few local buyers who've already learned to keep an eye out for him, since his prices are good. He paints a few times a week, for a few hours at each session.
D: Friends
1) Who were your friends as a child? As an adolescent? As an adult?
1A: Malcolm had several friends in the town, and kept the same ones up through his teenage years. As an adult, however, he knows that most of his friends have remained behind in his hometown, to take on the same jobs as their parents and those before them. If and when he visits, there will no doubt be a few childhood friends he'll want to catch up with.
2) How many of these people are still alive? How many are you still friends with?
2A: Presumably, most of them. And while the friendship could be said to be strained since he no longer lives there, they parted quite well in almost all cases.
3) Who is/was your best friend? What is the most memorable thing that the two of you ever did together?
3A: Oddly enough, his 'best friend' would probably be the old man who taught him how to paint. He spent much of his time learning from him, after all. Most memorable thing…? Giving Malcolm a brush of his own, I suppose, and letting him use the old man's supplies for one day.
4) What do you look for in a friend?
4A: Trustworthiness, a sense of humor, a charitable nature, and preferably a bit playful as well. Preferably intelligent enough to carry on a conversation with, too.
5) Have you ever been in love? Was it reciprocated? Do you have (or have you had) a boy-/girlfriend, a lover, or a spouse? More than one? Are you looking for one? What do you look for in a romantic partner?
5A: Malcolm has had the odd relationship now and again…none in his hometown that went beyond teenagers rolling in the hay, (which, thankfully, nothing came of) and more fortunately for him, the girl in question didn't become pregnant, and understood when he wanted to leave to seek his own fortune. More recently, he's developed something of a relationship with a particular Mousekin, but the nature of that relationship is yet to be determined.
E: Attitudes and Beliefs
1) What are your beliefs about religion and the afterlife? Do you follow any particular god or gods? What appeals to you most about this religion? Least?
1A: Malcolm does not follow a particular deity, as yet. He respects them, and pays deference to them, but has not selected a particular one yet. At times the gods of magic seem like they might be best, but he doesn't know if he wants to devote his life to that just yet.
2) Where do spirits of nature, the elements and the dead fit into these beliefs?
2A: He believes in all of the above, and gives them the same healthy respect he does the gods themselves. He hopes that he has a god(dess) selected by the time he dies, and is in good favor with them, though..
3) What gods, religions, or priesthoods will you have nothing to do with?
3A: Any that are openly evil, cruel, malicious, etc etc.
4) What is your moral code? Under what conditions will you kill? Steal? Lie? Do you have a personal code of behavior about violence? Magic? Sex? Dealing with Evil Beings?
4A: Malcolm will kill either in self defense or to save another being's life, as it stands right now. Stealing…to help those who truly need it, perhaps. Lying? Sure, if it's needed to help himself or someone else, but he doesn't need to like it. As for -most- things though, his rule is 'Have fun, so long as I don't hurt anyone in the process.' Dealing with evil beings…tricky territory. He may have to do it, to pursue his magical paths.
5) How committed are you to seeing through something (a task, quest, bargain, etc) that you have started?
5A: Extremely. Malcolm is single-minded in his pursuit of magic, and that extends to just about anything else he sets his mind to.
6) How important are the following to you?: Power, Wealth, Fame, Honor, Family, Friends, Love, Knowledge, Religion, Your job? To what lengths would you go to acquire or preserve these things?
6A: Wealth is comfortable, great to have, and he'd go out of his way to get it, but he has lines he won't cross(this applies to all others as well.) Power..handy, but not a goal in and of itself. More of a side benefit to Knowledge, which could be said to be his primary goal. He yearns to know about magic. Fame is quite irrelevant to him though. Family, honor, friends, love, all equally valuable, all good things. Religion is a touchy subject, since he doesn't HAVE one yet. His job? What, as a painter? He loves to paint, if he wasn't able to, he'd be quite sad <such as if his hands were permanently injured, perhaps> but he wouldn't jump off a bridge or anything.
7) How often do you remember your dreams? How much attention do you pay to them? Do they inspire you? Guide you? Inspire You? Warn you? Frighten You?
7A: Malcolm, as a changeling, has very exotic dreams, and remembers them vividly..but they don't have anything remotely prophetic about them, and usually reflect his emotional state.
8) What is your attitude towards magic? People who use it? Fearsome monsters? The unknown in general?
8A: It's a strange, mysterious thing, which should be studied intensely until we know everything we can about it.
F: Edges and Flaws
1) What are you especially good at? What sets you apart from the rest of the world? A skill? An unusual knack? A certain flair of style or wit?
1A: Painting, being polite, and clever, usually.
2) What flaws do you have? Bad habits? Obsessions? Terrible (or embarrassing) secrets?
2A: Some would call him obsessive about magic, and that sometimes extends to other things. No horrible secrets to speak of, he doesn't truly keep his studies secret, he just doesn't casually mention them to everyone he meets.
3) Do you have any enemies? How much trouble do those conflicts cause you?
3A: None that he knows of.
G: Likes and Dislikes
1) What do you love? (People? Places? Creatures? Kinds of Food? Activities? Subjects?)
1AFriendly, accepting people and cultures. Learning magical lore.
2) What do you hate? How do you typically react to these hated things?
2A: Evil creatures, those who spurn knowledge and embrace ignorance.
3) What do you fear? What is your worst nightmare?
3A: To lose all magic, knowledge of magic, and be horribly mundane again.
H: Miscellaneous
1) Describe your first encounter with a nonhuman monster. (Not counting player races, animals, etc that you grew up with, but feel free to mention them too)
1A: Believe it or not, he hasn't had one yet. Fortunately for him, since he's not that well prepared to fend one off.
2) If you are a spellcaster, describe your first experience with using magic. What were the circumstances? Were you expecting it?
2A: Creating a flame of darkness under his mistress's guidance. It was..strange, exhilirating, to realize he had control over it and could banish it with a thought.
3) If you have an animal companion or familiar, describe how you acquired it. Describe this ally's personality, and its attitude towards you. (Loyal unto death, mischievous, lazy, etc)
3A: N/A
4) If you have any unusual possessions, describe how you acquired them. Is their value practical, monetary, sentimental or some combination of these?
4A: N/A
5) Please describe your characters general background, this may be any length you wish, but at least one paragraph. You may use any or all of the information above, or new information not covered. (Encouraged)

Character History:
Malcolm's history is seemingly simple. He grew up in a peaceful woodland community, raised among humans by his adoptive parents, a simple merchant family. He knew from an early age that he would be wasted as a merchant. He had far too much force of personality and intelligence to simply peddle his wares all day. Instead, he listened to tales told by passing caravan guards, learning of the city life, and stories of far off lands. He worked dutifully for his father until he could afford to make his own way in the world, as a craftsman, an artist in fact. His paintings were hardly the work of epics, but they earned him enough. He journeyed to the cities, and in his travels began to learn of a darker path to power and knowledge. He was taken as an apprentice shadowcaster, and began to learn their ways..he was left very early on, with only a bare understanding of the craft himself, and with no other to teach him. Perhaps he'd learn the rest through trial and error..
