Character History:

Mathias was born in a small village bordering the eastern woods of summer country, close to the coastline. He grew up among a normal family, a loving mother and father, and was happy with his life. When he was three however, things seemed to change. His parents came home one night with a small bundle, a year old kitten girl, who they came to call Nina Mau. Needless to say, Mathias did not like this one bit. As a young child, he always had to compete for attention from his parents, and Nina always seemed to win out. Much to his mother's detriment, for the longest time Nina was always known as "that cat" to Mathias…

One day, several years later, things seemed to reach a turning point. Nina was being bullied by some of the other children of the village, and while their father watched, eight year old Mathias strode over and promptly put himself between Nina and the other boys, stating "The only one that is going to do anything to my sister is me!" Nina realized that this was the first time that he had ever done anything of that sort for her, and he had apparently finally accepted her as family… right before getting beaten up by the bullies, and giving just as good as he got. It was this incident that caused Mathias' father to start training him how to fight with one of his old weapons, a well kept greatsword with notches in the handle for each major opponent he had fought.

For the next two years, Nina was practically glued to Mathias' side, and he found this exceedingly annoying. Over those months, he did a number of things to try and give Nina the slip just so he could get some alone time. This eventually led to Nina accidentally breaking her ankle. Mathias felt horrible about this, and after helping Nina back to the house, stayed with her, tending to her injuries.

From that day they became practically inseparable, however Nina was beginning to view Mathias in a completely different way. Mathias also was hiding growing feelings for Nina as well, but pushed them away, worried about what others would think if he actually pursued Nina as a potential mate. Sadly, Mathias was pretty dense when it came to Nina's affections toward him, and he instead attempted to pursue several females in the village when he wasn't training with his father in the arts of combat.

This eventually backfired, as Nina interrupted a date in a particularly vicious manner. Attacking his date for no apparent reason, and afterward when questioned, simply said that she had never liked the girl in the first place and was just upset. A few days later she vanished from the house, and Mathias went after her in the morning with the blessings of his parents.

Mathias eventually found Nina, tied to a tree in an orc camp. When he found her in such a manner he attacked the camp in such a rage that he quickly slew the orcs and freed his sister. She refused to come home though, saying that she simply didn't want to go back. Mathias wouldn't let her go alone, seeing how she ended up after only a few hours out on her own… and the pair made their way toward the nearby city of Avalon… What lies in store for the pair of adventurers? Only time will tell…

A: Appearance

Mathias is a tall, strong male wolf beastfolk standing roughly 6 and a half feet tall with firm strong muscles. His fur is grey with streaks of brown and he can usually be seen wearing his father's old chain shirt armor with a greatsword strapped to his back.

2) What other details would someone notice on a closer look? (Distinguishing marks, birthmarks, scars, etc?)

Nothing remarkable

3) Do you have a distinctive way of speaking or any other mannerisms or memorable behavior?

B: Birth and Family

1) Where and when were you born? (Also good to include: Do you know your exact birthdate? Did anything unusual (storms, accidents, deaths, etc?) happen about the same time, with which some people might still associate your birthdate?)

Mathias was born in a small village near the coastline of Summer Country, right on the border of the eastern woods. Nothing unusual marked his arrival into the world.

2) Who are your parents? (Names, Occupations, Social class, Were they married?, Are they still alive? are all good things to include)

Father: Loren, Hunter
Mother: Catherine, Healer

Both married, still alive.

3) Do you have any siblings? (If so, it would be good to describe them as you did your parents above.)

Mathias has an adopted sister by the name of Nina Mau, a feline beastfolk his parents brought home one day when he was 3 and she was 1.

4) Do you know any members of your extended family? (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins? Also would be good to describe them as above)

Mathias' grandparents died before he was born, so he does not know any members of his extended family.

5) How did you get along with your family?

Very well, he is very protective of Nina…

C: Education and Work

1) Did you serve an apprenticeship in order to learn your current profession/class? For how long?

Mathias trained under his father in the art of combat since he was around 8, shortly after getting beaten up by some bullies after trying to protect Nina.

2) If you were not an apprentice, how did you learn your trade/skills/ect? Formal schooling? Informal Teachers? Self-Taught?

3) Who was your master or teacher? (Race? Gender? Appearance? Personality?) Is he/she still alive? How were you treated? Are/Were you on good terms with your master?

Mathias' teacher was his father.

4) Did your teacher have any other apprentices or students? Who were they? Did you get along?

5) Due to the rarity of literacy in this setting, how important are books, writings, letters, ect. to your character? Regardless as to whether or not he/she can read?

Mathias never really worried about reading…

6) Do you have a job other than "adventurer"? Who do you work for? How much of your time does this require?

As of now, no he does not.

D: Friends

1) Who were your friends as a child? As an adolescent? As an adult?

Mathias was pretty ostracized from having a number of friends after standing up for his adopted feline sister. As such, Nina was his only closest friend from about 8 years old until today.

2) How many of these people are still alive? How many are you still friends with?

Nina is still alive and well.

3) Who is/was your best friend? What is the most memorable thing that the two of you ever did together?

Again, Nina. Most memorable would have to be the time he set out to find her after she ran away from home, only to find her kidnapped by orcs… which he summarily killed in a rage.

4) What do you look for in a friend?

Unsure as of yet, Mathias never really looked much for friends, since they seemed to shun him once he chose Nina over the bullies instead of joining in.

5) Have you ever been in love? Was it reciprocated? Do you have (or have you had) a boy-/girlfriend, a lover, or a spouse? More than one? Are you looking for one? What do you look for in a romantic partner?

Yes, Yes, Yes, No and No. As for what Mathias looks for, he seems to have found it already.

E: Attitudes and Beliefs

1) What are your beliefs about religion and the afterlife? Do you follow any particular god or gods? What appeals to you most about this religion? Least?

Mathias doesnt follow any particular gods or goddesses, but the village had a priestess of Matra who looked over things as best as she could.

2) Where do spirits of nature, the elements and the dead fit into these beliefs?

They have their place, and Mathias is perfectly fine with smacking things around that need it if the situation calls for it.

3) What gods, religions, or priesthoods will you have nothing to do with?

Unknown, Mathias has not yet had any particular interaction with deities or other religions outside of his village. Even the priestess of Matra kept out of things unless it was absolutely needed.

4) What is your moral code? Under what conditions will you kill? Steal? Lie? Do you have a personal code of behavior about violence? Magic? Sex? Dealing with Evil Beings?

Kill: When needed
Steal: Try not to, but if you absolutely have to to survive….
Lie: Everyone lies, just try not to let it get out of hand.
Violence: A way of life
Magic: It has its uses.
Sex: Fun, but he couldn't see doing such things with just anyone
Dealing with Evil Beings: Undecided as of yet
Anything concerning Nina: If shes in danger, all bets are off… something is probably going to die though…

Mathias will see through a task if it benifits him. If it becomes too dangerous for Nina though he will think twice about turning back.

Mathias doesn't really remember his dreams. As such they tend to not guide him all too much.

Mathias knows that Nina is particularly skilled with magic, and thinks that its pretty interesting. As for fearsome monsters and the unknown… its all just stuff for him to stick his blade into.

Mathias has become quite skilled with his father's greatsword, other than that though, nothing overly special.

2) What flaws do you have? Bad habits? Obsessions? Terrible (or embarrassing) secrets?

Mathias has been harboring feelings for Nina for quite some time, but has constantly pushed them away because he was afraid of what the village would think if they knew he felt such things for a feline.

3) Do you have any enemies? How much trouble do those conflicts cause you?

No one comes to mind.

Mathias loves to hunt and train.

Mathias tends to react violently when Nina is put in danger.
