Slightly skinny and wearing rather thick glasses over stunning azure blue eyes, as well as common girlish pigtails in her blonde hair, a first glance can make it quite easy to overlook this girl. However, that is before she steps into motion, drawing attention to herself with confidence and poise. Because of how she holds herself, how she portrays herself, it is almost impossible to look away from this hidden gem once she has your attention, and all who see her get the feeling that they are seeing exactly what she wants them to see, and to just that degree that she wants it to be seen.

Character History:
Raised by one of the most elite, prestigious families in Avalon City, Monica had a more than hefty exposure to the decadence and self-satisfaction that can come with being a part of the upper crust. Because of this, she is well aware of the pitfalls that can come with having "too much" without having to work for it, and has decided to reject the lure of easy, inherited wealth in favor of earning it herself, through her talent and her education as well as her hard work. Because of this, she has a number of contacts in high places (including her own decadent family - especially her mother), and though they generally disapprove of her efforts, they are still willing to help out with information and the occasional place to crash for the night…as long as she doesn't bring her strange adventurer friends over without at least sending a message beforehand.
As the oldest of the Little girls, and being the most responsible member of her family in general, Monica finds herself having to try to guide and protect her sisters whenever possible. This is difficult, especially when her mother keeps trying to involve her in a variety of debacles. It takes a great deal of Monica's time and attention just to keep from having herself or her sisters saddled with an undesirable arranged marriage or being made the mistresses of some wealthy soul somewhere. She is actually not her father's daughter, being instead the product of an intimate liaison between her mother and a high elven noble, though her mother made sure that Monica's form was altered through Perfection of Form to make most of her elven features less obvious.
Recently Monica has started to consider a career as a professional musician. The youth of Avalon City and many other places are starved for entertainment, and so Monica has begun to think of how to break into the professional music scene of high-class bards. However, at present, she has been stymied by her lack of a gimmick, as every good bard who intends to become wealthy as well as famous needs something memorable.
Family
Thomas Little - Monica's father, 61, a plump older man with extremely receded grey hair (was once ginger) who has devoted his life to business pursuits. Vastly wealthy, he sought out a noble title through marriage, and was able to find the Blacktree family in desperate financial straits. Without him, the Blacktree family would have gone bankrupt long ago. This was his primary reason for marrying Harriette, besides her great beauty and social skills and many friends and contacts among the nobility and in the world of high society, and her knowledge of what is most fashionable. Hariette keeps Thomas Little looking good in proper social circles, as well as providing a pleasant home when he takes one of his very rare breaks from business to relax.
Hariette Blacktree Little - Monica's mother, 41; an October blonde with brown eyes. Thanks to good breeding, careful upkeep, and plenty of magical assistance, she looks easily ten years younger than her actual age, and is an incredibly stunning beauty. Part of this owes to her elven ancestry, as she is one quarter high elf, and a relative of the elven royal family (this is not that unusual, though, because of the many children of the long-lived queen of the elves), a relation that has helped Thomas Little in his trading efforts with Aelfheim. Part of the Blacktree family, one of the nobles of Avalon City, sister of Charles. As the only daughter of the former Blacktree family rulers (Charles and Hariette's parents), she has grown up rather spoiled and greatly pampered by her father, despite all her mother's efforts to have her trained properly (though Hariette did absorb a good deal of this training for later use, seeing its value in keeping herself popular and loved by all). Charles, no longer able to easily carry on his former wanton behaviors, thus decided to live out his desires through his daughter, by bringing her up as a dandy and courtesan. She married Thomas Little for his money, to boost the faltering Blacktree fortunes, and neither Thomas nor Hariette have any delusions to the contrary.
Anastasia "Annie" Little - Monica's sister, 15, a straight-haired redhead who lets it grow out long, until now it is waist length. Annie is an elegant, scholarly girl with a great deal of musical as well as artistic talent. She is not terribly organized, however, and has a tendency to be easily influenced by those around her, besides being absentminded. Most of her life, Annie has spent at Trevalis Academy, learning to hone her abilities even more, which has caused her to grow up rather sheltered. This, coupled with her general cluelessness and lack of common sense, causes her to be mostly fearless, though often also not very wise, and she generally prefers to follow her own ideas unless Monica takes pains to check her. She is a wizard with a specialization as an illusionist, all the better to help bring into being the works of art that are in her mind. Unlike Monica and Lena, Annie is actually Thomas' daughter - his only daughter - as well as his personal favorite, hence her special schooling at Trevalis away from the rest of the family. Though still emotionally distant, Thomas sometimes remembers Annie's birthday, which is more than he can say for anybody else in his life.
Magdalena "Lena" Little - The youngest of the Little girls at 13, raven-haired Lena is a natural leader as well as more than a bit of a rebel. With a few levels in rogue, Lena is already getting into trouble of all sorts. She hates boys, still thinking of them as icky and stupid, and seldom listens to anybody except her closest friends, though she's started to mature a little as she's hit puberty. Monica is one of the few people able to get through to her headstrong sister at least some of the time, and it is Monica's influence that has managed to keep Lena out of the worst sorts of trouble, such as drugs or serious criminal behavior, though Lena does have friends that do both.
Matilda DeVillars Clearwater-Cathone - A half-elf woman of 35 and Hariette's cousin, Matilda has short, straight platinum blonde hair with bangs that curl around to frame her heart-shaped face on either side. She is the product of one of the DeVillars line of the nobles of Avalon City marrying with a high elven family, called Clearwater in the Common translation, to cement a political alliance. She married young and produced five children of her own before the demise of her husband during the Dark One Crisis. Her daughters were often raised alongside the Little girls, though only some of them get along. Matilda took her elven last name back after the demise of her human husband, though she was married to one of the haughty Cathone line, with whom she is no longer on good termsm though her daughters keep up appearances of goodwill in society. Among the nobles of Avalon City, Matilda is a source of ready gossip on all the particulars of other families, and is known as a ruthless landholder, with estates in the Firelands as well as Hydra, and which she is known to visit often, much to the terror of her servants.
Glorianne Clearwater-Cathone - 18-year-old Glorianne takes strongly after her mother in appearance, with elven good looks softened by her human blood, save that her shoulder-length, straight blonde hair is a darker, golden color rather than platinum blonde. The oldest of the Clearwater-Cathone girls, Glorianne's personality is much like her mother's as well: haughty, conspiring, and demanding. However, Glorianne rounds herself out with a strong sense of determination, and it known for being extremely athletic.
Diana Clearwater-Cathone - As the second child of a family mostly made up of snobs, 17-year-old Diana feels that she has a great burden placed upon her to maintain the family honor. Her mid-back-length light brown hair tends to be spiky on top and flow down in back, which also mirrors her personality: aggressive and blunt on first meeting, but soon revealing a softer, more tender side when one gets to know her. Diana would just as soon be a member of some knightly order, and has trained herself accordingly, but has been held back from actually joining any such orders by her mother, who strongly dissapproves. Surprisingly, she and Annie Little get along very well, and seem to have an almost telepathic understanding of each other, without having to say a whole lot, thus spending much of their time together with smatterings of conversation followed by long periods of silence.
Florence "Flossie" Clearwater-Cathone - Stuck in the middle at 15, Flossie finds that her primary purpose in her family is to keep the peace. A natural at oratory, and trained in it from long practice with the art of conversation and mediation just keeping in good standing among the upper crust, Flossie has some levels in bard. This bottom-length-haired golden blonde and Diana are good friends, and she is also best friends with Monica and Annie Little.
Jordan Clearwater-Cathone - Moody and often sullen, Jordan is the only male child of the Clearwater-Cathone line, and is the one slated to become heir of the family fortune once he comes of age. Presently 14, this golden, spiky-haired young man is trying to avoid his responsibilities as long as possible. Most of his time is spent in various athletic pursuits, especially in the wilds, making him a halfway-decent ranger in training, though he is also reasonably well-read and has a good head for math.
Ginger Clearwater-Cathone - The youngest of the Clearwater-Cathones, spiky blonde and pigtailed 13-year-old Ginger is already an intellectual snob in the making. Born with an astonishing degree of intelligence, Ginger has quickly breezed her way up to advanced studies. Besides her academic accomplishments, Ginger is also known as an excellent athlete, especially favoring water-based sports, such as swimming, boating, and sailing. She is known to spend time with Lena, but only when there is the chance to cause mischief, for which Ginger has a good head for planning.
Silviana Clearwater - Young (for an elf, at 200) matron of the Clearwater high elven house as found in Avalon City, Silviana, a swordsage who trims her silver hair short, constantly finds herself amused by the machinations of the nobility of Avalon City, and keeps herself playfully aloof. She seldom grows excited or concerned, though she can be terribly haughty and conceited, especially around humans, and has little patience for what she perceives as foolishness. Knowing this, however, she does her best to have others handle her more important dealings when tact is required. These Clearwaters are close cousins of the Littles.
Erine and Corisa Clearwater - elven twin daughters of Silviana, just recently having reached the age of 25, making them about equal to Monica Little in maturity. The pair have flowing, lustrous purple hair that goes down to the backs of their knees, and they usually wear matching white (Erine) and black (Corisa) clothing. Erine is the dominant one of the pair, being cheerful and energetic, while Corisa acts to keep her sister from getting too enthusiastic with a more realistic stance. With training in music as part of their elven heritage, the Clearwater twins often spend time with Monica and her other friends just making music and practicing.
Mishaela Whitetower - A tall and stately-looking grey elf noblewoman with strong fey blood, giving her an otherworldly appearance, her pale skin almost translucent, her hair a dark blue like the waves of the sea, fading to foam white at the tips. She has an almost permanent stern-but-thoughtful expression set into her eyes. She regularly wears light, gauzy dresses that show her well-formed figure, but never really reveal anything, and often wears exquisite, expensive jewelry. Lady Mishaela, as she prefers to be called, is an astonishingly ruthless elf, and known for her strong desire for power. She has no royal blood in her, but married well, demonstrating an astonishing degree of fertility (ascribed to her fey blood) in producing three daughters before her high elven husband, directly related to the royal line, died under mysterious circumstances. She is also close cousins with the Clearwaters of Avalon City, and often visits them there.
Pallas Whitetower - Mishaela's eldest daughter, and already an accomplished wizard despite her realtive youth. This grey elf with long blue hair and soft, pale skin is known for being as ambitious and cunning as her mother, though she hides it well behind an innocent-seeming facade.
Odiel Whitetower - Lady Mishaela's middle daughter, and the one that she doesn't want anyone to know about. Odiel is a half-drow, though she looks full-blooded, with sleek, obsidian-black skin, short white hair, and a petite figure that belies her relatively tender years. Despite being young, Odiel is already quickly learning the ways of Whitetower deception, and is quickly becoming a skilled alchemist.
Teldena Whitetower - The youngest of Lady Mishaela's daughters, her skin and hair as pale as her mother's. Unlike the older Whitetower girls, Teldena has turned from her scholarly, scheming life and instead has taken training as a ranger with the Avalon City border patrol. She is still just an apprentice, but she is learning fast.
Friends
Nami Sakura - Shrine Maiden-type, legs-length black-haired, brown-eyed 15-year-old noble from Cho-Lin. Nami, of the Sakura family, has always lived her life as a sheltered, pampered princess. She leaped at the chance to move to Avalon City, living there while she attended classes at the prestigious Trevalis Academy. She soon met Annie Little, and through her Monica Little, with whom she often spends time making music, as she is an accomplished musician in her own right.
Kaya deRabesque - The favorite daughter of the Caliph deRabesque of Crescent, dusky-skinned, dark-haired, 16-year-old Kaya is the Caliph's successor to his more-than-substantial fortune, sent to Avalon City to stay while she attends school, getting a full education to better make her ready for her duties later in life. She is a skilled drummer and tamborinist, and acts as such when she plays with Monica's friends. She is also a talented beguiler, needing her skills when dealing with the ruthless harem politics back home. Kaya spends time with Monica because it is the most relaxation that she has ever had in her short life, and the only time when she ever dares to let her guard down.
Jei T'Chana - With longer, curly purple hair and dark ebony skin, 15-year-old T'Chana is one of the daughters of very prestigious nobility on Hydra, and is directly related to the laibon of Mankata. She is skilled with the guitar, a new instrument recently invented that she picked up in Avalon City while at Trevalis Academy. She is good friends with Annie Little, as the pair have a lot to talk about
Sapphira T'Chana - 13-year-old Sapphira is one of Lena's friends and the younger sister of Jei, her skin tone slightly lighter than Jei's deep ebony, more of a chocolate brown. She has short, curly black hair that she often does up with a variety of colorful little bangles that clack together as she walks, and wears round spectacles to correct her nearsightedness. Sapphira has a sharp wit and a clever tongue, though she tends not to be cruel in her use of humor, despite occasional bouts of sarcasm. She is secretly a warlock, due to her family's witch doctor blood, and is thus the heir to her family's darkest secret, whether she wishes it or not.
Sandy Weathertop - 19-year-old halfling girl and one of Monica's friends, playing bells and the halfling fiddle with masterful skill. Sandy lives up to her name with sandy-colored hair that usually ends up as a slightly ruffled shock despite any efforts to tame it. As a member of the wealthy Weathertop halfling merchant family, Sandy is about as close to nobility as is found among halfling communities, and her family even bought a minor noble title to make their dealings with Avalon City society a little easier, giving her some human rank as well. She has a very extensive family line, including numerous brothers and sisters.
Eugenie Louison - A mystic (human subrace), and a very nice girl at 15, and a friend of Annie's - they both tend to be dreamers, and work well together when thinking of things. Eugenie, besides being an accomplished chef, also has a lot of natural talent as a composer, and she and Annie often work together. A former commoner who studied to be a Healer at a monastery not far removed from Treavlis Academy, Eugenie's family recently purchased a noble title in Avalon City before most of her relatives unfortunately perished in an accident. She is now the sole inheritor of her family's good-sized fortune and new noble title. This has left her with a great weight of responsibility on her young shoulders. She wears her hair short and done up, and has a slender, willowy build.
Phasia Valisar - Of the Valisar line from the Council of Wands, and a swordsage with training, 16-year-old Phasia has a strong head for monetary matters, and as Annie's friend, she frequently acts as a voice of practicality among all the artistic types that surround her. Eugenie is rather tall and slender, but has a muscular build, skin of a smooth, warm brown, and long black dreadlocks that she maintains with pride.
Penny Casker - Though common by birth, 14-year-old Penny Casker is an outrageously smart girl, which has earned her a scholarship to Trevalis Academy where she is presently in training to be a sage. She has sandy pigtails and usually wears slacks and a simple shirt. She is friends with Lena Little, and while she is fairly sensible, she also has big ideas and a strong sense of right, and so is often on the lookout for adventures, in which she and her friends are usually willing to take part.
Minako Minamoto - 25-year-old Minako is a pleasant gnome girl (actually half-gnome, on her father's side) from Cho-Lin and very sweet. She is a bit of a dreamer, but also very intelligent, and especially skilled with her hands. She has neck-length blue hair which curls around her ears, and tries to be a proper child for her adoptive human parents, who are very strict. Because of this, she tends to be shy and reserved, but she finds great satisfaction in helping Monica and her band make their instruments and set up their other equipment, made easy for her thanks to her great skill with machines, metalworking, woodworking, and more.
Ekatarina de Morcef - 14-year-old Ekatarina knows how to get her way with powerful bluffing skills and a daddy who is a high-ranking nobleman from the Iron Throne and accomplished lawyer (his reason for being in Avalon City, which has a constant need for lawyers), so she's used to getting her way. Her friends like her because of this skill - she can make things happen. Despite her usefulness, however, and her many contacts, Ekatarina is also frightfully spoiled and terribly vain. Her bottom-length, wavy pink hair is a mark of her connections with the fey, and she has some significant sorcerous powers that are starting to properly develop, and are likely to become quite potent in the future.
Versa Shivare - From the noble caste of Bazram, 17-year-old Versa is a dark-skinned beauty who is well aware of her charms and the effect that her large, dark eyes and beautiful voice have on others. Her dark hair curls back down to the middle of her back, and she has a red dot in the middle of her forehead, a mark through which she is able to channel her developing psychic abilities. So far she has sharpened these abilities to better help her to get what she wants, which makes her a bit spoiled, though she is reasonably pleasant despite this. Annie accepts her without question or the use of psionics, and so she fits in with the rest of the group tolerably well.
Aapti Shivare - Versa's younger sister (at 14), a wilder psion rather than the practiced psionic that her older sister is. Aapti (a name that means "fulfillment") has always lived in the shadow of her sister, who has always been strong-willed and dominating. This has led the neck-length dark-haired, red-brown-skinned girl to try and live up to her parents' ideal for being the perfect little daughter. She is friends with Lena Little because of the freedom that her association with Lena gives her, the chance to cut loose and do wht she wants, rather than what she is expected to do.
Carnation Li - Younger, less noticed princess of the Cho-Lin Emperor, and twin of Huian Li. Came to Avalon City to escape the demands of courtly life and an undesirable marriage. 13-years-old, friend of Lena with a fiery, rebellious spirit. Usually wears her school uniform, so as to change back to her royal persona quickly, but also wears a headband and hand bindings. Keeps her brown-black hair cut short and spiky. Is a terrific monk and unarmed combatant with a lot of potential, and is trying to make it on the fighting circuit.
Huian Li - While Huian is Carnation's twin sister, it is obvious that they are fraternal rather than identical twins. Where Carnation's hair is brown, Huian's (whose name means "peace") hair is long and purple-tinted, likely from spirit blood in her ancestry. Where Carnation is short and has a firm, almost masculinely muscular body, Huian is tall and slender and very elegant in her manners. Huian seems to spend a great deal of her time cleaning up after her sister's social messes, and does her best to fill her role with all the grace she can muster. She dearly loves Carnation, though, and would do most anything for her, a feeling which is mutual for Carnation.
Rita Teasedale - Janet Teasedale's half sister by another mother (she is six months younger, at 13), a skinny, athletic girl with a shock of bright orange hair, which she ties up in an asymetrical ahoge hairband. She is known for hanging out with Tammy Border, and knows how to skateboard fairly well, but she much prefers the freedom of rebelliousness that Lena Little and Carnation Li enjoy. A free spirit, but also a voice of reason to whom her two friends will actually listen at times.
Janet Teasedale - Usually wearing a bandana covering the top of her shoulder-length brown hair, 14-year-old Janet is one of Annie's artistic friends. A sweet girl and a bit mothering by nature, she likes to keep tabs on Annie and make sure that she's doing all right. Janet is also a fabulously skilled draft artist, and loves to work on fashion design, for which she has an incredible knack. She is rather humble and soft-spoken, making a great contrast to Marshe, with whom she is best friends.
Marshe Carvet - A long-haired, long-legged, willowy blonde, Marshe is a 14-year-old beauty with looks that are absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, she is well aware of this fact, and can be painfully arrogant at times. She usually acts as a backup singer for Monica's developing band, but she is working towards becoming a fashion model and designer in the Council of Wands (where fashion is even more essential than in Avalon City). Presently she and Janet Teasedale design the costumes worn by Monica's group, which is sure to raise them to great fame should Monica and company come into fame of their own. She is also a very good friend with Errion Dimtree, because Errion is completely and honestly unaware of her beauty, while Marshe is always aware of it, and Marshe feels strong protective feelings towards the half-elf.
Floria Heavengust - A 22-year-old avariel elf, Floria is easily the sweetest, cutest, shyest little angel-elf that one could ever hope to find. She has long pink hair, large purple eyes, and a pair of downy-soft, fluffy white wings. One of the prominent Heavengust family, Floria is the youngest daughter of this prestigious winged elven house. Her shyness often leads to her being neglected back home, and she didn't voice any objections when her family decided to have her go to Trevalis Academy for some additional training, and hopefully to try and wean her of her painful shyness. The latter hasn't happened yet, though Floria has managed to pick up quite a few skills as a wizard, as well as a rogue (mostly for letting her be quiet and unnoticed). She is very good friends with Lena Little, whose strong personality captivates the little angel elf, and actually manages to get along with Ekatarina, with whom she is a reltive through their fey sides, by being willing to just listen to the haughty human girl and not judge.
Willamena "Will" Van Dorn - One of the more recent noble families, the Van Dorn's are country nobility that started as a craft family that then bought out a local lord of Dorn township not far from Avalon City. Willamena grew up trained as a carpenter, and though only 14, she is still quite good with her hands, and used to doing all the work of boys her age. This short-haired redhead has a strong personality, but it likable and reasonable and often makes a good leader. She has been enrolled at Trevalis to help her get adjusted to her new role as a noble, but it has been slow going training this headstrong girl into new habits.
Irma Leaf - 13 and carefree, Irma is an energetic, happy girl, and a bit of a prankster. This brown-haired, tan-skinned girl is a half-gnome, coming from a family in the Council of Wands to attend Trevalis, and has a natural talent for magic, especially enchantment and illusion magic, though she has yet to use it for more than entertainment and pranks.
Errion Dimtree - A young and vulnerable half-elf, a bastard of the royal family, Errion knows that her family is ashamed to admit that she even exists. She is attending Trevalis Academy to be put aside, and feels herself an outcaste from everybody, spending much of her time studying wizardry, at which she excels even though she is only 15. The first person to have reached out to her was Marshe Carvet, something that surprised everyone who knows the arrogant young woman, but Marshe feels deeply protective of Errion, and will do anything for her best friend.
Kria Uthark - A rarity in the extreme outside of the Hordelands, Kria is a young, full-blooded goblin girl. This green-skinned young woman was actually adopted by Terrick Uthark, a retired dwarven adventurer and aprince of the noble line of the Granite Mountains who felt guilty when he discovered the infant Kira as the only survivor of an attack he led on a goblin nest. Though she knows nothing of goblin ways, Kria is a natural-born sorceress, and this and a host of other things caused her to never quite fit in with the dwarves. Finally her father sent her to Avalon City to receive training, so that she might eventually become a diplomat for his people.
Martina "Raven" Gardias - Raven is a seriously gloomy 16-year-old girl who has decided to immerse herself in the trappings of death and decay after realizing how impermanent life is. In another time and place and world she might be called a "goth," though because people tend to avoid her because of her bad poetry, they don't call her much of anything at all. Despite this, she's still fun to be around as long as she doesn't remember how smart she is or how everyone is going to die. Monica puts up with her because she can see the person Raven is likely to become, and she has been gradually getting better at her poetry under the guidance of Monica's honest but constructive criticism, occasionally even starting to write lyrics.
Angelica Collins - A nice girl, 16-years-old and kind, Angelica often acts as a social conscience for her friends. This long-haired strawberry blonde often has to remind Monica and her other friends of the feelings of others that they meet. Despite having a strong pull with those who know her, though, Angelica hates being in charge, and avoids it at all costs.
Darcy Dravenfaust - A 17-year-old heartbreaker, Darcy is a serious flirt and rebel, prefering jeans and t-shirt to any sort of uniform. Because of this, though she is enrolled at Trevalis Academy, this headstrong girl has yet to attend more than the first day of class. She is an idol to other girls her age, and top of the list of most boys who would like to date her, but she only associates occasionally with people, prefering to remain largely aloof. She is an accomplished singer and performer, and has already begun to make a name for herself in the professional circuit, selling herself as a 'bad girl' and appealing to a tougher crowd in this way.
Alisa Greenbough - A high elven girl with skin so smooth and pale, it's almost translucent. Alisa seems to shimmer where she goes, and is believed to
Servants
Kotetsu Shoujo - a tall, stately 17-year-old, black-haired and black-eyed Samurai maiden who is Nami's bodyguard. An expert with masterwork bastard sword and short sword, Kotetsu keeps mostly to herself, remaining silent and aloof in the background, though she is Nami's constant shadow.
Rasiela - A non-flying hawk-blooded avian beastfolk who acts as Ekatarina's bodyguard. She is a red-tailed hawk, and though rather young, at 18, this gives her the energy and hawklike watchfulness that is needed to try and keep tabs on the willfull Ekatarina and her no-less-willfull friends. Unknown to anybody else, she also has a crush on Floria Heavengust, but is too embarrassed to let the shy elfgirl know about this. Rasiela is a fairly skilled swashbuckler, focusing on light weapons and light armor and swift, deadly attacks.
Ripper - His real name not something that he likes to reveal, Ripper is a ripper, a wolverine-type beastfolk with a rather sordid criminal past. However, Hariette Little is fond of the burly, brutish beastfolk, and employs him as her gardener, a duty which he performs admirably well. Hariette, however, is the only person that likes this blood-eyed ex-con (released only because the charges of murder couldn't be proved). Everybody else tends to stay as far away from this creepy, savage brute as much as possible. He, in turn, does his best to remain invisible, unseen and unheard, while he watches the Little household with quiet patience.
Blue - female warforged, servant of the Clearwater family. Has sleek blue metal skin (a mithral alloy, taken with a feat) and sculpted 'hair,' making her look more like a statue than a typical warforged, and has levels of duskblade. Her metal skin is surprisingly supple, and can vary its hardness depending on her mood, from completely solid to as soft as flesh. Blue is unwaveringly loyal to the Clearwater family, since this is the only life she has known, and she is used to being treated as essentially an object or ignored unless her services are wanted. She acts mostly as a general body servant, but she can also act as a bodyguard in a pinch.
Adelheide Silverwen - A high-elven knight and sworn protector of the Clearwater family. She is still in training, more a squire than a real knight, being hardly older than the twins, Erin and Corrissa, but she is still an able swordswoman, dutiful and devoted.
Questionnaire
A: Appearance
1) Describe yourself as someone meeting you for the first time would see you. (Race?, Gender?, Age?, Size? Coloration? Attractiveness?, Dress? Do you try to emphasize or hide any of these features?)
2) What other details would someone notice on a closer look? (Distinguishing marks, birthmarks, scars, ect?)
3) Do you have a distinctive way of speaking or any other mannerisms or memorable behaviour?
Slightly skinny and wearing rather thick glasses over stunning azure blue eyes, as well as common girlish pigtails in her blonde hair, a first glance can make it quite easy to overlook this girl. However, that is before she steps into motion, drawing attention to herself with confidence and poise. Because of how she holds herself, how she portrays herself, it is almost impossible to look away from this hidden gem once she has your attention, and all who see her get the feeling that they are seeing exactly what she wants them to see, and to just that degree that she wants it to be seen.
Monica Little is half-elven, but this isn't immediately apparent, as she takes rather heavily after her human mother, Harriette Little. Also like her mother, she is remarkably attractive, a trait made even more pronounced by her elven father's bloodline, though she frequently masks this through careful selection of her attire. As a noble, the daughter of nobles, Monica speaks in a manner that immediately identifies her as being high-born and well educated. Her voice is especially pleasant, and is ideally suited for singing.
B: Birth and Family
1) Where and when were you born? (Also good to include: Do you know your exact birthdate? Did anything unusual (storms, accidents, deaths, ect?) happen about the same time, with which some people might still associate your birthdate?)
2) Who are your parents? (Names, Occupations, Social class, Were they married?, Are they still alive? are all good things to include)
3) Do you have any siblings? (If so, it would be good to describe them as you did your parents above.)
4) Do you know any members of your extended family? (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins? Also would be good to describe them as above)
5) How did you get along with your family?
Sixteen years ago, Monica was born to Harriette Blacktree Little and her stolid father, Thomas Little. The problem to this, of course, was that Thomas was human, of a line that was quite pureblooded human, and seldom spent enough time at home to have conceived a child, so busy was he with work. Thomas Little made his pile through extensive trade, and Harriette was part of an arranged marriage on his part, so that he could acquire a noble title in Avalon City, while Harriette's line of minor nobility, the Blacktrees, could gain the money it desperately needed to pay back its numerous debts. The two never loved each other, and still don't, and so long as Harriette makes any children she might have reasonably plausibly to have been Thomas', he hardly cares how she carries on with others. So it was with Monica Little, who was carefully altered in her appearance at birth to appear rather human, while still keeping the elven elegance of the diplomat Harriette had seduced.
Of course, Monica was not alone for long, though she was the oldest of three daughters (at least presently - Harriette is remarkably fecund, and also remarkably attractive despite entering middle age). Her younger sisters, Annie and Lena, both idolize Monica, who has taken on the role of mother for them that their biological mother never could. Lacking any real male role models in their home, since their mother's lovers do their best to stay out of sight, and their father is constantly working, the Little girls have taken to adventuring, starting with Monica, and soon to be followed by Annie and Lena as soon as they get old enough to do so. They are able to do so because of the extensive amount of free time their father's business enterprises give them, which is also how all the Little girls received their extensive educations. If not for Monica's inherently good nature, and her efforts to get out and see the world, she would surely have ended up quite badly spoiled by now.
Thanks to Harriette Little's extensive series of lovers, Monica is tied on several fronts to a number of extended family relatives, some legitimate, and others not so legitimate. Harriette's own noble line, while minor, is also rather widespread, and has several ties to elven lines as well. Because of this, Monica has enough friends in high places to find admittance almost anywhere in high society, and to get herself out of a great deal of trouble, so long as she doesn't push her luck too far. This is probably the only favors that she gets from her mother, however, as Harriette is a domineering and unpleasant woman whenever she focuses her attention on her daughters, her sole reason for having them in the first place to give her a chance to spread her own political influence a bit farther through arranged marriages. Since Monica and her sisters have proven too headstrong to be easily manipulated, Harriette frequently finds herself trying various strategems to reign in her wayward, adventuring daughters.
C: Education and Work
1) Did you serve an apprenticeship in order to learn your current profession/class? For how long?
2) If you were not an apprentice, how did you learn your trade/skills/ect? Formal schooling? Informal Teachers? Self-Taught?
3) Who was your master or teacher? (Race? Gender? Appearance? Personality?) Is he/she still alive? How were you treated? Are/Were you on good terms with your master?
4) Did your teacher have any other apprentices or students? Who were they? Did you get along?
5) Due to the rarity of literacy in this setting, how important are books, writings, letters, ect. to your character? Regardless as to whether or not he/she can read?
6) Do you have a job other than "adventurer"? Who do you work for? How much of your time does this require?
Monica's bardic talents originated from natural talent, refined through musical tutoring by several top-notch private instructors. She quickly outstripped most of these instructors, however, and very rapidly began to innovate in various musical instruments and styles. These days, Monica works with her two sisters and several of her friends as part of a band that gradually increases in fame and fortune even as Monica improves in levels.
For Monica, education is the very lifesblood of her ability to do anything, and she feels the need for literature keenly. She knows full well that being able to read and write makes her a very priviliedged individual, and she thanks the gods that she was raised with a good education, and that she was wise enough to take advantage of the opportunities afforded to her.
D: Friends
1) Who were your friends as a child? As an adolescent? As an adult?
2) How many of these people are still alive? How many are you still friends with?
3) Who is/was your best friend? What is the most memorable thing that the two of you ever did together?
4) What do you look for in a friend?
5) Have you ever been in love? Was it reciprocated? Do you have (or have you had) a boy-/girlfriend, a lover, or a spouse? More than one? Are you looking for one? What do you look for in a romantic partner?
Monica's friends and family are listed in great detail on a separate section of her character sheet. Thus far she has never been in love, though she has a strong weakness for adventuring types, and most especially for the sorts of which her mother would never approve. That is to say, obviously inhuman persons of no obvious fame or fortune, but a lot of heart. As far as Monica is concerned, however, everyone is a potential friend, as long as they are not out to simply use her for her money, looks, position, or other advantages. If somebody likes her for herself, then Monica generally feels that someone is her friend for life.
E: Attitudes and Beliefs
1) What are your beliefs about religion and the afterlife? Do you follow any particular god or gods? What appeals to you most about this religion? Least?
2) Where do spirits of nature, the elements and the dead fit into these beliefs?
3) What gods, religions, or priesthoods will you have nothing to do with?
4) What is your moral code? Under what conditions will you kill? Steal? Lie? Do you have a personal code of behavior about violence? Magic? Sex? Dealing with Evil Beings?
5) How committed are you to seeing through something (a task, quest, bargain, ect) that you have started?
6) How important are the following to you?: Power, Wealth, Fame, Honor, Family, Friends, Love, Knowledge, Religion, Your job? To what lengths would you go to aquire or preserve these things?
7) How often do you remember your dreams? How much attention do you pay to them? Do they inspire you? Guide you? Inspire You? Warn you? Frighten You?
8) What is your attitude towards magic? People who use it? Fearsome monsters? The unknown in general?
Being a proper noble, Monica pays her respects to Ra, and is also known to revere Corellon Larethian because of her many elvish ties. However, she is especially enamored of Aasterinian, to whom she prays for aid in helping her creative impulses to develop, and of Bast, who she sees as her personal protector and source of general good luck. Hlal, in the end, is Monica's chief patron deity, and the one to whom she prays most often. Overall, Monica is a true pantheistic worshiper, like most people of Therafim, letting the gods be a part of her life wherever she feels they can do the most good. For her, her ideal vision of the afterlife would be to continue studying and developing her talents of music, never finding an end to making ever more idealized art.
Never having had to truly fight for her daily bread, and never having felt the pangs of true hunger or deprivation, Monica has yet to discover to what extents she will go when pressed by extremes of need and want. Still idealistic, she is also uncertain about the depths of evil in the world. For the most part, Monica feels that bad people should be reformed when possible, or killed when this is not possible, though she finds the thought of killing others to be somewhat repugnant. This just makes her all the more pleased to take a support role in adventuring parties that she might join. She does not feel similar sympathies towards obviously inhuman and unattractive creatures, however, and does not mind them being killed so much, as long as they seem to be evil as well as ugly.
Because of her sheltered life up to this point, Monica is mostly concerned with her friends and her companions, and their needs and wants, and is willing to go to just about any lengths for them. This makes her rather easy to guide on great quests, and very prone to following her dreams first. She has quite vivid dreams, and takes them as inspiration for her artistic endeavors. Magic is a part of her being, a lingering reminder of her elven heritage, and so Monica simply uses magic, largely without thinking about it, calling it into being from the art that she weaves into shape. Besides her pursuit of art, and especially music, which is her one all-consuming passion, Monica is likely to simply abandon any task that proves to be too hard for her after one or two good tries that fail. But if she has friends who are more committed to a project or quest, then she will let her committment to her friends carry her beyond her normal stopping point.
F: Edges and Flaws
1) What are you especially good at? What sets you apart from the rest of the world? A skill? An unusual knack? A certain flair of style or wit?
2) What flaws do you have? Bad habits? Obsessions? Terrible (or embarassing) secrets?
3) Do you have any enemies? How much trouble do those conflicts cause you?
Once more, Monica's greatest talent is her musical aptitude, especially as a singer. She is also highly skilled at influencing others, and with a slight exertion of her will, can even turn this into magic, be it the enhancements of bardic music or the simple weavings of spells intended to addle, influence, and control the minds of others. Monica's voice is her instrument of choice, and it is an amazing voice at that, whether put to use for oratory or singing. She also has an adoration for books, and this has led her to read extensively on a vast array of subjects, so that she has picked up bits of information on almost everything imaginable.
Despite her strengths, Monica also has a significant weakness: she is fairly naive, and very idealistic. This is largely the result of her limited experiences, caused by a sheltered upbringing, though her explorations through books has eased this naivity somewhat. What Monica lacks is real world experience, and yet she is terrified of the thought of losing her safety net, in the form of her family lands and titles and fortunes. In time, she may yet develop the confidence needed to give up these things and grow on her own, but until then, she is unlikely to develop beyond a certain point in understanding the world around her and its peoples, beyond how best to get her own way.
G: Likes and Dislikes
1) What do you love? (People? Places? Creatures? Kinds of Food? Activities? Subjects?)
2) What do you hate? How do you typically react to these hated things?
3) What do you fear? What is your worst nightmare?
Music is Monica's first and greatest love, and the thing to which she is most utterly devoted. If she had to live without music, it is very likely that she would simply cease to live at all.
Monica hates being forced to do anything. While she tends to be rather agreeable and willing to do most things when asked, she truly despises not being given a choice, but orders instead. This is one of the principle wedges between her and her mother, and has led her to hate her mother as well, wanting as little as possible to do with the woman.
The loss of freedom and her music are both Monica's greatest fears. As long as she has her music, at least, she can endure even the loss of freedom, though she would much prefer to have both. For this reason, though, she utterly refuses to have anything to do with her mother's attempts at matchmaking, knowing that these would simply cause her to lose what little freedom she has managed to retain. In time, as she gains more experience as an adventurer, it is very likely that Monica will cut herself off from her family completely, to finally gain the freedom she so desires to act as she pleases and pursue her art to the fullest.
H: Miscellaneous
1) Describe your first encounter with a nonhuman monster. (Not counting player races, animals, ect that you grew up with, but feel free to mention them too)
2) If you are a spellcaster, describe your first experience with using magic. What were the circumstances? Were you expecting it?
3) If you have an animal companion or familiar, describe how you aquired it. Describe this ally's personality, and its attitude towards you. (Loyal unto death, mischievous, lazy, ect)
4) If you have any unusual possessions, describe how you aquired them. Is their value practical, monetary, sentimental or some combonation of these?
5) Please describe your characters general background, this may be any length you wish, but at least one paragraph. You may use any or all of the information above, or new information not covered. (Encouraged)
The first time that Monica ever encountered a monstrous race was a simple fight against goblins, the first time that she'd gone on an adventure. Staying well away from the action, Monica watched her party members killing these hideous, misshapen creatures, while doing her best to sing boldly, not letting her voice waver, so as to strengthen them with her bardic influence. Monica hasn't encountered many nonhumans outside of adventures, and so she tends to think of them as potentially dangerous at all times, and occasionally terrifying, though frequently exciting as well.
For Monica, magic is as simple as breathing, and as much a part of her being. If she hadn't been a bard by inclination, channeling her magic through music and art, she would surely have been a sorcerer. While her first minor cantrips started to appear when she hit puberty, Monica has always found that she could influence the emotions of others through her voice from a very young age, and it has only been her innate goodness of heart that has kept her from abusing this power.
