Character History:
Few in Therafim know the history of the man once known as 'El Presidente'. He came from a lush tropical paradise, a village-like population of followers dedicated to his rule, on the world of Earth, during the height of their Cold War. This much is known..the man found a temple on his very own island, mostly buried under dirt and rubble. He brought in foreign experts to try and translate the ruins, and did quite a bit to help in fact. Years passed…the temple had depths it would not reveal, and no amount of TNT or probing revealed a way further in. Instead, they studied the markings on the doors, and the tablets of arcane text in the chambers they -had- uncovered. From this, they were able to piece together bits of language…and finally, Presidente was able to speak the 'opening words', which, through some ancient method they weren't quite certain of, opened the doors and allowed him access. But no sooner had he crossed the threshold himself, eager to be the first one inside, than it closed behind him, sealing him in. Mere moments later, the temple began to shake, and its collapse seemed imminent! All of his trusted followers fled, fearing for their lives…but escape was impossible for the cunning dictator. In the chamber he now stood in, there was a large stone pedestal…and atop it, a strange light emenated. Glowing steadily brighter, until it illuminated what appeared to be a spectral passage going…where? Well, as the room's ceiling was on the verge of collapsing, -anywhere- was better than there…and so the man leaped through, sealing his fate.
In his youth, Xavier Salazar De La Rosa, <or 'Sal', as he's known to his close acquaintances or friends..> was something of a militaristic man, with extreme hand-eye coordination and a fit physical figure helping him go far in the local militia. His communist leanings caused him to leave the region, but some years ago, he returned! He had new resources, and swiftly took over the island to lead it in a communist-based dictatorship. He wasn't an -evil- man, though…ideology aside, he was protective of his people, though vengeful to those that tried to betray his island. He was handsome, well liked by most…after all, in the time of his rule, they'd gone from huts and farms to a thriving micro-economy, with electricity, a high school, police, and other luxuries.
Now, though, 'Sal' finds himself in a strange new world…armed with little, his own coinage being hard to translate, and he's sure he got gypped by the gem merchant..but still, that 50-carat diamond of his had given him enough to get started…a change of clothes, weapons, armor, and some tools of the trade. He had dreams, though…whatever this strange new world held for him, El Presidente would emerge victorious!
