Endurance: +4 Swim checks for Non-Lethal damage.
+4 Constitution checks to continue running.
+4 Constitution checks to Non-Lethal damage caused by forced marches.
+4 Constitution checks while holding your breath.
+4 Constitution checks made to avoid nonlethal damage from starvation or thirst.
+4 Fortitude saves made to avoid nonlethal damage from hot or cold environments/to resist damage from suffocation.
Can sleep in light or medium armor without becoming fatigued.
Class Abilities:
Arcane Attunement (Sp): You can use the spell-like abilities daze, flare, and prestidigitation an unlimited number of times per day.
Hexblade’s Curse (Su): 1/day| Free action |Hexblades can unleash a curse opon a foe. The target must be visible to the hexblade and within 60 feet. The target of a hexblade’s curse takes a –2 penalty on attacks, saves, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls for 1 hour thereafter. A successful Will save (DC 10 + 1/2 hexblade’s class level + hexblade’s Cha modifier) negates the effect.
Multiple hexblade’s curses don’t stack, and any foe that successfully resists the effect cannot be affected again by the same hexblade’s curse for 24 hours. Any effect that removes or dispels a curse eliminates the effect of a hexblade’s curse.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Hexblades are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, and with light and medium armor and with shields.
A hexblade can cast hexblade spells while wearing light armor, medium armor, a buckler or a light shield without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance.
Arcane Resistance (Su): At 2nd level, a hexblade gains a bonus equal to his Charisma bonus (minimum +1) on saving throws against spells and spell-like effects.
Mettle (Ex): At 3rd level and higher, a hexblade can resist magical and unusual attacks with great willpower or fortitude. If he makes a successful Will or Fortitude save against an attack that normally would have a lesser effect on a successful save (such as any spell with a saving throw entry of Will half or Fortitude partial), he instead completely negates the effect. An unconscious or sleeping hexblade does not gain the benefit of mettle.

Penny Stamp: 600XP, 790 GP, Knife
In this quest, Zhelen realized that while he is adventuring with people more able then him, it will often do well to let them attack first, and for him to stay in the background.
Goblins and Spiders: 420xp, 50gp, Art
In this quest, Zhelen realized the power he can have by using all his abilities, switching between them seamlessly to combat his enemies.
Also, the fact that they were ambushed from above showed him the importance of having a ranged weapon, and so, after the battles, he quickly procured himself one.
Smuggler's Cave 775xp 802gp
Here, Zhelen realized the power that diplomacy could have sometimes after he managed to prevent a big battle through some cleverly worded phrases. He also realized that having beer in his bag at all times could prove helpful.
Sausageman 450XP 600gp
Zhelen has started gathering various small samples after having been asked to do so by Joshua, his old mentor and close friend. He has also started working with his allies more effectively to make his attacks more powerful. After this quest he replenished his stock of beer which he finds useful for once a quest is over. Finally he also added some soap and towels to his bag as he finds that adventuring can often be quite messy.
Museum Of The Dead 500xp 1000gp
In this quest, Zhelen was humbled. Not because he made a mistake, or was cowardly, on the contrary, he was the first to step into the battle. His bad success was caused mostly by bad luck causing him to miss all the fighting, and being in a group with many who were stronger then him.
Character History:
Zhelen was born and raised in the trade district of Avalon. His parents operated a small wine shop. He always aspired to operate the shop when his parents passed away, and to work in it until then. However, the week after he turned 15, both his parents were killed while somebody tried to rob it. His elderly uncle inherited the shop, and promptly sold it. He also lived in the Trade district, and owned a small arms shop. After Zhelen's parents died, he lived with his uncle, and there started training every day, in hope of one day avenging his parents.
During his training, and especially at times when he was especially mad, he would find that the animals would just… stop moving, or become easier to hit. Once, he even saw a blast of light come out of nowhere, and blinded his for a minute. However, the ability that amazed him the most was that he could change how drinks tasted! When he was sick, and he had to take some disgusting herbal remedy, he discovered that by concentrating on what he wanted them to taste like, there taste became that!
He had to know why…how these abilities happened. He wandered around, looking for answers and ended up at the Library. There he found a whole new world, a world with endless rows of books. And these books were filled with words. So much meaning, but so inaccessible, until, while he was hypnotized by the walls of books, a voice sounded behind him. "Can I help you?" The librarian then asked Zhelen if he wanted to be taught to read, to which the answer was "Yes!"
Zhelen learned to read surprisingly quickly
As soon as Zhelen knew how to read, use a dictionary, and find books in the library, he began learning at an extremely fast rate. He would finish reading one book, and immediately pick up another, slowly learning more, and more about his abilities. He also discovered that there were other languages that existed. These fascinated him. They had completely different words, and even different alphabets! During hi meetings with his teacher, which he kept on doing, though they were now only weekly instead of daily, he would be pointed in the direction of new books. He wanted to learn languages, and started with a simple one: Goblin. Once he had mastered that, and had read several books in goblin, he decided he would continue on to a language that he loved to look at: Infernal. The mere thought of it compelled him, and he did all he could to learn it, using his Dear tutor extensively. Once he had a small grasp on Infernal, he started to read lots in it. He read of the history and laws of evil outsiders, and about there magic. Once he felt he had a competent grasp of the language, he went on to learn as much as he could about history, and magic in general.
When he turned 17, he read in the newspaper that another shop-owner had been murdered in the same circumstances as his parents. His fury reemerged, and he decided to leave in search for the monsters who murdered his parents. He has yet to find them.
A: Appearance
1) Describe yourself as someone meeting you for the first time would see you. (Race?, Gender?, Age?, Size? Coloration? Attractiveness? Dress? Do you try to emphasize or hide any of these features?)
Zhelen is a handsome, muscular human. He is of average height, of slim fit, and is 17 in age. He dresses not based on appearance, but based on convenience and comfort, which leaves him looking odd sometimes: With nice clothes, and a huge backpack. His black hair is often uncombed, but when it is not a mess, it is goes slickly towards his neck in the back of his head. He does not hold personal appearance in great regards, and so neither emphasizes, or hides any features,
2) What other details would someone notice on a closer look? (Distinguishing marks, birthmarks, scars, etc?)
On closer look, one might notice his eyes: They were thin, and acute from all the time spent reading books, and studying various old texts.
3) Do you have a distinctive way of speaking or any other mannerisms or memorable behavior?
Zhelen has been told he can sometimes be a bit distant from people. He can be a bit shy when he first meets a person, but once he knows them he is quite social.
He also has a very varied vocabulary, and sometimes goes between formal, and informal speech, showing his mastery in both.
He adores violence, and does not mind getting dirty, allowing himself to douse in an opponent’s blood as they fall to their death.
B: Birth and Family
1) Where and when were you born? (Also good to include: Do you know your exact birthdate? Did anything unusual (storms, accidents, deaths, etc?) happen about the same time, with which some people might still associate your birthdate?)
He was born on the twenty fifth of Kuja and raised in Avalon,.
2) Who are your parents? (Names, Occupations, Social class, Were they married?, Are they still alive? are all good things to include)
His parents were Aankan d'Ahled, and Fannita. They were middle class business owners who had married young, and ran a successful wine shop called Fannita's Liquor. However, they were murdered at the age of 36 while there store was being robbed.
3) Do you have any siblings? (If so, it would be good to describe them as you did your parents above.)
He was has no siblings.
4) Do you know any members of your extended family? (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins? Also would be good to describe them as above)
He only knows his uncle. His uncle inherited Zhelen's parents shop after they died, and he took care of it. He is in his mid-40's, and has a decent income. He is single, and is happy with it.
5) How did you get along with your family?
Zhelen was on good terms with the little family he knew, though he was never close to them.
C: Education and Work
1) Did you serve an apprenticeship in order to learn your current profession/class? For how long?
N/A
2) If you were not an apprentice, how did you learn your trade/skills/ect? Formal schooling? Informal Teachers? Self-Taught?
Zhelen's skills were largely self-taught. However, he was aided, especially in the beginning by a librarian named Joshua Cardak.
3) Who was your master or teacher? (Race? Gender? Appearance? Personality?) Is he/she still alive? How were you treated? Are/Were you on good terms with your master?
His aforementioned teacher treated him well. Even now as he leaves for his own, he gets along well with Joshua. Joshua is an old human of 50 or so years of age who gives the appearance of somebody a little older: Well dressed, but with white hair, and bad vision from the long hours in the library. He treated Zhelen very well.
4) Did your teacher have any other apprentices or students? Who were they? Did you get along?
Zhelen was the only student he ever took, and took him because he could see the intelligence and curiosity, and want for knowledge emanating from Zhelen.
5) Due to the rarity of literacy in this setting, how important are books, writings, letters, ect. to your character? Regardless as to whether or not he/she can read?
They are extremely important to Zhelen. The majority of what he knows came from books, and so he holds them in great esteem. He loves reading, especially those that teach him more on history, and magic.
6) Do you have a job other than "adventurer"? Who do you work for? How much of your time does this require?
None, though he spends a lot of free time reading
D: Friends
1) Who were your friends as a child? As an adolescent? As an adult?
As a child the few friends he had were not close, apart from Meli, who shared his love of finding patterns in objects. As an adolescent, he removed himself from contact with everyone, devoting himself to training, and research, though his mentor could be considered a friend of his, since they were very close.
2) How many of these people are still alive? How many are you still friends with?
He lost all contact with Meli, but she is probably still among the living. He is still close with his teacher.
3) Who is/was your best friend? What is the most memorable thing that the two of you ever did together?
No real friends, other than his mentor. Otherwise, with Meli, when he was around 11, they sneaked out of the city, and visited the countryside (Something there parents had forbidden).
4) What do you look for in a friend?
In a friend, Zhelen especially looks for their ability to be alone, as he sometimes wants to just lock himself in a room for a day, and read. He also appreciates intelligence on their part, and cringes when he hears horrible grammar mistakes.
5) Have you ever been in love? Was it reciprocated? Do you have (or have you had) a boy-/girlfriend, a lover, or a spouse? More than one? Are you looking for one? What do you look for in a romantic partner?
He has never been in love, does not have a significant other, and has absolutely no interest in having one, as they just take up time. He would want a partner he had few needs, and who could aid him. They would be smart, and able, and tolerant of his erratic lifestyle. Knowing these partners are extremely few, he doesn't look for any.
E: Attitudes and Beliefs
1) What are your beliefs about religion and the afterlife? Do you follow any particular god or gods? What appeals to you most about this religion? Least?
He believes in the gods, though not in the afterlife. He follows no gods, and is not religious. It is the belief that the gods are watching over him that would appeal to him most in religion, but he does not believe that that is true. What Appeals to him least is praying, and sacrifices.
2) Where do spirits of nature, the elements and the dead fit into these beliefs?
He believes in Spirits, and the elements, but as i thinks gods aren't worthy of worship, so the others certainly are not. He sees the dead as just that, and the undead as beings that must be killed.
3) What gods, religions, or priesthoods will you have nothing to do with?
He is tolerant of all.
4) What is your moral code? Under what conditions will you kill? Steal? Lie? Do you have a personal code of behavior about violence? Magic? Sex? Dealing with Evil Beings?
He will kill. Happily, and savagely, though with reason. His reasons, however, can come easily. If somebody insults him, or offends him, that could be reason enough. Also if it is truly evil, he will kill it, though he is lenient on that side. He will steal from anyone he dislikes, or considers a foe, though he won't from an honest tradesman. Lying is perfectly alright, though he isn't the best liar, and so tries to avoid it. Violence is fine, as long as it doesn't hurt his companions, and magic is perfectly normal. He is open to sex, though he is a virgin, and will deal with Evil Beings by giving them death.
5) How committed are you to seeing through something (a task, quest, bargain, etc) that you have started?
He is fairly committed to tasks, though that is because he believes not seeing them through would damage his reputation, and lower rewards he receives.
6) How important are the following to you?: Power, Wealth, Fame, Honor, Family, Friends, Love, Knowledge, Religion, Your job? To what lengths would you go to acquire or preserve these things?
Power: Not very, though it is important as it aids in acquiring money.
Wealth: Very. This is one of the main driving forces in his actions.
Fame: Only important as long as it aids in his pursuit of wealth.
Honor: Not important to him. Effectively, he has very little moral code.
Love, Religion: Not important at all.
Family, Friends: Of little importance
Knowledge: Extremely important. He adores knowledge, and seeks it at all times. He will take all opportunity to learn new stuff.
His Job: He had none…
7) How often do you remember your dreams? How much attention do you pay to them? Do they inspire you? Guide you? Inspire You? Warn you? Frighten You?
As of yet, he has never remembered his dreams, but because of his disbelief that the gods interfere with people’s lives, he wouldn't give any thought to them.
8) What is your attitude towards magic? People who use it? Fearsome monsters? The unknown in general?
He adores magic, as it is a great mystery that he must solve. He likes to study other people who use magic, to see how it differs from his own. Fearsome monsters are just to be killed.
The unknown, he adores it. The unknown is by its definition a mystery, and solving a mystery brings him knowledge, and so he loves it.
F: Edges and Flaws
1) What are you especially good at? What sets you apart from the rest of the world? A skill? An unusual knack? A certain flair of style or wit?
He is especially good at learning on his own, be it intellectual, or martial knowledge, and he can read very rapidly. Because of his parent’s occupation, he also has an knack for recognizing good Alcohol.
2) What flaws do you have? Bad habits? Obsessions? Terrible (or embarrassing) secrets?
He can be very perfectionist sometimes, not wanting to leave things alone until he is absolutely sure about them. He also cannot stand unsolved mysteries, and hates not solving them.
3) Do you have any enemies? How much trouble do those conflicts cause you?
Having only recently left home, he has not yet developed any enemies.
G: Likes and Dislikes
1) What do you love? (People? Places? Creatures? Kinds of Food? Activities? Subjects?)
He loves Knowledge in general, But especially all that has to do with his abilities, and magic. He also has a fascination for History, and Languages
2) What do you hate? How do you typically react to these hated things?
He hates burglars, robbers, highwaymen, and muggers who rob innocents. His parents were killed while there store was being robbed, and ever since then, his hate for all who steal from the innocent has been great. He would like to eliminate all those who practice those horrendous acts, either by killing them, or, when that cannot be done, having them arrested.
3) What do you fear? What is your worst nightmare?
He fears forgetting everything he knows. His worst nightmare would be one in which he was dumb, and helpless, having only his brute strength left with him.
H: Miscellaneous
1) Describe your first encounter with a nonhuman monster. (Not counting player races, animals, etc that you grew up with, but feel free to mention them too)
His first encounter with non-humans was with Gnolls. He was working for the Post Office, after they asked him to stop a band of gnolls from terrorizing the postal deliveries. After surprising a group of gnolls, and saving one of his companions, he rushed at 2 gnolls who were further away. He missed them, hitting only air. They then retaliated, knocking him unconscious, and to the brink of death. Luckily, Cerulean was able to bring him back to life once the battle had finished.
2) If you are a spellcaster, describe your first experience with using magic. What were the circumstances? Were you expecting it?
He first experienced magic by accident. It was when he was sick one day, and was forced to have those horrible tasting herbal remedies; he noticed that if he concentrated enough, he could change its taste to anything he wanted. Later while testing it, he noticed he could make water taste, and looks like wine, and could also modify the appearance of small objects.
3) If you have an animal companion or familiar, describe how you acquired it. Describe this ally's personality, and its attitude towards you. (Loyal unto death, mischievous, lazy, etc)
N/A He would be vicious, obedient, and loyal.
4) If you have any unusual possessions, describe how you acquired them. Is their value practical, monetary, sentimental or some combination of these?
He always has a few books to read on him, most of them concerning magic, or history. He has also baught a few detailed books on various subjects, that he can consult as needed.
He is a bit of a hoarder, and likes to take little things from the bodies of those he killed.
5) Please describe your characters general background, this may be any length you wish, but at least one paragraph. You may use any or all of the information above, or new information not covered. (Encouraged)
